PROJECT : National Inventory Consolidation (NIC)
National Inventory Consolidation is a project kicked off in 2012 after Centurylink acquired Qwest communications. The
Objective is to Deliver a unified inventory and provisioning workflow for data services to enable market leadership in
both service activation interval and new product time to market The current program scope covers all local affiliate
inventory and provides a NextGen inventory system for nationwide consolidation.
Roles and responsibilities
• Responsible for administration of Multiple development, test, End-to-End and reporting Databases and
Application releases on them.
• Daily/Weekly Health Check of the Databases. And database sanity tests after each release.
• Database design, capacity planning, Creation and Management Of over 30 databases across 6 different
applications.
• Responsible for all Oracle 10g/11g/12c binaries installations across the 6 applications. And Oracle Client
installations and Creating scripts for Database builds and all the pertinent objects like application specific
schemas, tables, roles etc
• Responsible for Creating,managing user accounts, roles, Granting required system/object privileges to users,
Managing security and Network access to the databases.
• Installed Application specific components like JServer Virtual machine, XDK, XML database, LDAP client.
Recompiling and Validating application specific packages.
• Maintained Hot Backups for Test databases and restored them as necessary for the release operations.
• Setup of RMAN backups and recovery, Oracle Enterprise Manager agents and Recycle bin purge
procedures for production Databases.

Partitions
• General monitoring of database performance during peak and non-peak loads using STATSPACK. Also used
AWR and ASH reports to identify bottle necks when the test teams kick off a Load and Performance test.
• Identifying slow running queries during peak hours using AWR reports and Root cause analysis.
