Managed the design, installation, and qualification of EHS projects around pharmaceutical

production plant following cGMP standards. Projects include upgrade of ventilation in print

room, upgrade of flammables storage house, installation of a total organic carbon detector in

deionized water lines, installation of screw compressor in compressed air network, and the

import and integration of a climatic test chamber for pharmaceutical product stability.

Technical Support Engineer Weisser Analítica – Santiago, Chile June 2013 – June 2014

Maintenance and repair of analytical instruments from Agilent Technologies, specialization in

chromatography. Detailed understanding of GC, HPLC, MS, and UV-Vis instruments.

Research Engineer SQM, S.A. – Santiago, Chile June 2011 – January 2013

Developed a simplified model of vat leaching iodine extraction steps in Guggenheim process.

Conducted studies with electromagnetic conductance survey data of heaps to understand

behavior of heap leaching process in piles of raw caliche ore. Used gPROMS software to

simulate precipitation of salts and ion concentrations in evaporation ponds.

Process Engineer Internship SQM S.A. – Santiago, Chile May 2010 – August 2010

Developed models to predict behavior and designed experiments to test faulty pieces of

equipment critical to increasing maximum product throughput.

Engineering Clinic Research

Worked with NAVAIR to determine properties of puncture-proof tire gel, and develop

possible solutions to problem of gel overheating.

Investigated methods of nanopatterning silicon wafers using diblock copolymer

nanolithography. Developed new methods for handling and applying treatments to wafers.

Experimented with growth of densely packed, vertically ordered forests of carbon

nanotubes. Designed and built experimental setup for nanotube growth chamber.

Examined effects of alcohol on mature and developing planaria to model fetal alcohol

spectrum disorder.
