Experience:
I am currently working for a partnership of eight physicians who are the primary
stakeholders in multiple medical business entities. My primary responsibility is the
administration of their medical practice, but I also have administrative responsibilities
for two of their additional entities. I have listed those two additional entities below,
along with a summary of my responsibilities and my effort distribution to each company.
2012 – Current
Practice Administrator – Gastroenterology Consultants, PA (60%)
• Administrator for an eleven physician, five location practice with approximately
$10,000,000 in yearly revenue.
• Managed the organizations daily activities as well as assisting the President/CEO
in establishing long-term strategic directions.
• Implemented and updated policies and procedures associated with operating a
medical office, as well as HIPAA and HITECH compliance policies.
• Directed all operations of the organization and supervised all staff, including, but
not limited to:
o Front office
o Medical staff
o Business office
o 3rd party billing entity
o Pathology laboratory
• Directed implementation of the Centers for Medicare/ Medicaid Services
Meaningful Use incentive program, with Stage I being completed, and Stage II
ongoing.
• Directed implementation of Memorial Hermann’s Clinical Integration Program.
• Directed the build-out and opening of a new 3,700 SF clinic in Pearland, TX.
• Directed the construction of a new 3,600 SF stand-alone clinic, from land
purchase to construction, in Pasadena, TX.
• Coordinated the hiring of three new Gastroenterologists, including their
credentialing with eight local hospitals and numerous insurance plans.
Administrator – Gulf Coast Anesthesia (15%)
• Responsible for the administrative duties of an anesthesia company with six
CRNA’s and one business staff member.
• Responsibilities included, but were not limited to, financial oversight, provider
supervision, human resources and recruiting, provider scheduling, as well as
supervision of day to day activities in conjunction with the Chief CRNA.
Manager – Pearland-Kirby Medical Plaza (25%)
• Served as the property manager for a 3-story, class-A medical building in
Pearland, TX.
• Responsibilities included, but were not limited to, working with a leasing agent to
lure potential tenants to the building, managing a dedicated timeshare space and
its three occupying tenants, coordinating the buildings compliance with all
applicable laws and regulations, and serve as the primary point of contact for any
current building tenants.
2012 – 2012 Practice Manager – Sugar Land Colon & Rectal Clinic
• Oversight of daily operations for a solo colorectal surgeon with a single office
location and six employees.
• Coordinated all business and medical activities in the office including human
resources, billing, scheduling, clinic, and financial oversight.
• Trained all staff as applicable to their specific duties.
• Created office Policies & Procedures.
• Coordinated the implementation of Nextgen EMR into the practice.
• Personally trained all staff, specific to their duties, during EMR implementation.
2008 – 2012 Lead Clinical Research Coordinator – M.D. Anderson Cancer Center
• Responsible for guiding a three man research team tasked with the maintenance
and administration of thirteen clinical research protocols in the Department of
Head & Neck Surgery.
• Duties required professional communication with numerous levels of staff within
the hospital, including support staff, clinical physicians, research scientists,
surgeons, and pathologists.
• Assisted in the creation and implementation of the Department of Head and Neck
Surgery’s tissue banking program and biorepository.
• Responsible for training newly hired clinical research coordinators in the areas of
tissue banking, informed consent, tumor/tissue acquisition, phlebotomy, and
proper patient communication.
2004 – 2008 Research Assistant – University of Texas Medical Branch
• Served as the primary research assistant to Dr. Minkyung Yi, PhD in Dr. Stanley
Lemon’s laboratory.
• Research focus was primarily HCV and the creation of an effective HCV
replication model for cell culture.
