Pile drivers/Carpenters Local 1809: 2014 to Present
Projects: Various sites in South FL.
Position: Pile driver.
Duties: Worked varied piling and carpenter jobs from the union, mostly auger cast piles
and some form and scaffold work. Self employed, various soffit and fascia as well as
kitchen remodeling.
Nicholson Construction Company: 2013 - 2014
Position: Foreman.
Project: Atlantic Hotel in Miami Beach, FL.
Duties: Work with engineer on layout and placement of sheet pile perimeter walls.
Installed 40ft. to 55ft. sheet pile around perimeter of job site which encompassed a two
block area from 33rd to 35th St. and between Collins Ave. and Indian Creek Dr. with a ABI
crane. Predrilled excavation area with ABI. Unloaded and stock piled all whaler beams
and struts for the excavation of site. Assisted in the installation of 400 auger cast pile.
Began installation of handrail post and cable around perimeter of site. Mobilized and
demobilized.
Moretrench Construction and Geotechnical Services: 2013
Project: Flagler Memorial Bridge in Palm Beach, FL.
Position: Pile driver/welder.
Duties: Installed reaction piles, and test piles in two different locations. Set up and
welded false work. Installed 90ft. and 120ft. low headroom mini piles to stop the bascule
piers of the old draw bridge from settling as the new bridge piers were installed.
Mobilized and demobilized.
Betancourt Construction: 2013
Project: Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Position: Pile driver.
Duties: Drove sheet pile for open cut tunnel project.
HJ Foundations: 2013
Project: Port Everglades cruise ship terminal in Broward County, FL.
Position: Pile driver.
Duties: Installed 12in. to 36in. auger cast piles at Port Everglades for new cruise ship
terminal and expansion of existing terminals.
Ebsary Foundations: 2012
Project: Port Mayaca Levy Rehabilitation on Lake Okeechobee, FL.
Position: Foreman.
Duties: Analyze plans for marine and engineering projects. Contribute to work plan and
schedule formation. Implement work plan in the field through direction of crew and
consultation with superintendent. Monitor equipment and communicate with mechanical
staff. Daily liaison with G.C. and /or owner. Perform weekly safety toolbox talks.
Supervised a crew of three pile drivers and an operator. Job consisted of driving 1200ft
of temporary retaining wall consisting of 36in. by 194# beams with a sheet pile
interlocking every beam. This was for levy fortification and installation of new gates.
HJ Foundations: 2012
Project: Various condominium projects in Miami Beach, FL.
Position: Pile driver.
Duties: Installed 18in. to 32in auger cast piles.
Grundman Erectors: 2011
Project: Main Library Broward County, FL. and New Publix store in downtown Miami,
FL.
Position: Welder/Fabricator.
Duties: Erected temporary perimeter walls at the Main Broward County Library and
stairways at a new South Beach, Miami Publix grocery store.
DLS Prestressed: 2010 - 2011
Project: Various pump stations and other cofferdams, also various house and small
commercial buildings in south Florida.
Position: Foreman.
Duties: Analyze plans for marine and engineering projects. Contribute to work plan and
schedule formation. Implement work plan in the field through direction of crew and
consultation with superintendent. Monitor equipment and communicate with mechanical
staff. Daily liaison with G.C. and /or owner. Perform weekly safety toolbox talks.
Supervised a three man crew of pile drivers and two operators. Installed auger cast piles,
sheet pile cofferdams, whalers and braces. Installed concrete piles, pile caps, and precast
walkway for South Florida Water Management. Ordered materials, concrete, grout, etc.
and coordinated inspections.
HJ Foundations: 2009
Project: Florida Power and Light Martin County Solar Power Project in Indiantown, FL.
Position: Pile driver.
Duties: Installed 32in. and 24in. auger cast piles for Florida Power and Light Indiantown
Solar Power project.
Bunnel Foundations: 2008
Project: Various docks and marinas in Dade and Monroe FL.counties.
Position: Pile driver.
Duties: Removed damaged concrete docks and precast piles, and replaced with new.
Ebsary Foundations: 2004 - 2008
Projects: Florida Power and Light Indian Creek Substation, FL. underwater transmission
line. Port Everglades Bollard Structure replacement FL. Miami Intermodal Center,
Miami, FL. Various sheet pile coffer dams, and tremie anchors, and tremie pours in
south FL.
Position: Foreman.
Duties: Analyze plans for marine and engineering projects. Contribute to work plan and
schedule formation. Implement work plan in the field through direction of crew and
consultation with superintendent. Monitor equipment and communicate with mechanical
staff. Daily liaison with G.C. and /or owner. Perform weekly safety toolbox talks.
FPL Indian Creek Substation: Supervised a crew of four pile drivers and 2 operators
during the locating, exposing, repair and replacement of underwater transmission line.
Port Everglades Bollard Structure: Supervised a crew in the removal and
replacement of a bollard structure at Port Everglades. The old structure was knocked
over by a freighter and had to be removed from bottom of harbor and replaced with
new
24in. concrete pilings and a 6ft. by 30ft. by 30 ft. concrete cap with bollard.
Miami Intermodal Center: Installed and dewatered two 600ft. x 30ft. Cofferdams and
poured tremie seals after installing hold down anchors.
Various Sites: Supervised a three man crew of pile drivers and one operator. Installed
and removed various sheet pile cofferdams and whalers and braces. Drilled 18in holes,
grouted holes and installed Dywidag bars, nuts and plate washers to enable the pouring
of smaller tremie seal.
Morrison Knudson / Lane Joint Venture: 2001 - 2003
Project: McAlpin Lock and Damn Stabilization and dewatering, Louisville, KY.
Position: Foreman.
Duties: Analyze plans for marine and engineering projects. Contribute to work plan and
schedule formation. Implement work plan in the field through direction of crew and
consultation with superintendent. Monitor equipment and communicate with mechanical
staff. Participated in daily planning meetings with marine superintendent. Attended
safety classes given by Washington Group International and the Army Corp of Engineers.
Supervised a crew of four pile drivers and two operators crane on of 80ft x 175ft barge
equipped with a 300 ton crane. Erected two five tier template frames, one (80ft. by 30ft.
by 45ft.) tall, the other (100ft. by 30ft. by 45ft.) tall. Set larger frame three times, smaller
frame twice and dewatered each time for the placement of 22 concrete buttresses (20ft.
by 20ft. by 22ft.) Responsible for the set up of various cranes and other heavy equipment
and the installation of temporary dewatering pumps. Did all of the bull cooking.
W.L. Hailey & Company: 1998 - 2001
Projects: Kerrigan Diversion Structure in Nashville, TN. Sub-aqueous pipelines,
intakes, and outfalls in Columbia, TN. and Bessimer and Florence, AL.
Position: Foreman III.
Duties: Analyze plans for marine and engineering projects. Contribute to work plan and
schedule formation. Implement work plan in the field through direction of crew and
consultation with superintendent. Monitor equipment and communicate with mechanical
staff. Daily liaison with G.C. and /or owner. Perform weekly safety toolbox talks.
Kerrigan Diversion Structure: Mobilized to job site and used cadd to calculate
lengths of whaler beams and had all whalers prefabricated and ready for placement
during excavation. Drove 50’ sheet pile for five sided cofferdam. Supervised the
installation of all bracing and welding, excavation etc. There were 800,000 lbs of
sheet pile, whalers and beams in the structure. Also opened up a 16 ft.- 6in. Brick
sewer line and flumed with 16ft. 3/4in. steel pipe.
Pipeline River Crossings, Intakes, and Outfalls in TN. and AL: Drilled, blasted
and placed pipe for river crossings, intakes, and outfalls for wastewater treatment
plants. Supervised crew, managed reports, purchased materials, and scheduled
activities.
Scott Bridge Company: 1997-1998
Project: Second Avenue Bridge over CSX Railroad in Opelika, AL.
Position: Foreman.
Duties: Supervised crews that set MSE panels, placed rebar formed and poured bridge
abutments, crash walls, columns, and pier caps, set steel bridge girders, set overhang
brackets, armor joints and coordinated with railroad, managed reports, and scheduled
activities.
J. A. Jones Inc: 1997
Project: Montgomery Point Lock and Dam Desha County, AR.
Position: Foreman.
Duties: Mobilized cranes and barges, built templates for piling, unloaded materials.
Project was shutdown due to the Army Corp of Engineers expended appropriations.
C. J. Mahan Bridge Company: 1992 - 1993
Project: Central Bridge, Cincinnati, OH.
Position: Pile driver/welder/carpenter.
Duties: Constructed two cofferdams, and installed effco forms for piers and pier caps.
Drove concrete pile, set effco forms for piers and pier caps.
Great Lakes Dredge and Dock: 1991 - 1992
Project: Nashville Ave. Warf, New Orleans, LA.
Position: Foreman.
Duties: Supervised two crews of pile drivers and operators. Mobilized cranes and barges,
built templates, Set and drove 5,000 - 100ft. x 18in. concrete pile. Used two 250 ton
cranes one to stick pile the other driving pile. Removed and reset template. Kept daily
production log.
Boh Brothers Construction Company: 1990 -1991
Projects: Plaquemines Parrish Gate System for refreshing the swamp with fresh water
from the Mississippi River. Plaquemines Parrish, LA. City of New Orleans, Bus Station
and Repair Facility New Orleans, LA.
Position: Pile driver/welder.
Duties: Removed 1,500 flat sheet pile 70ft long and laid out on beams for cleaning and
sale. Drove 750 composite pile for bus station.
Whaling City Dredge and Dock : 1986 - 1990
Projects: Various projects through out CT, RI, and NY.
Position: Pile driver/welder.
Duties: Drove wood, concrete, steel, and sheet pile. Set up load tests. Set forms. Set
precast concrete dock sections. Dredged and installed outfalls. Tended divers.
Dick Corporation: 1985 - 1986
Project: AES Thames Cogeneration Power Plant Uncasville, CT.
Position: Foreman.
Duties: Supervised the setting of effco and Symons forms, anchor bolts, shot elevations.
Various Concrete and Drywall Companies in Dallas, TX: 1978 - 1985
Projects: Varied high rise office buildings, malls, strip malls, Texas Instruments.
Position: Carpenter.
Duties: Everything from setting forms, framing curtain walls on high-rises, setting door
bucks, hanging doors, and installing trim.
Osage/Grulich Construction: 1972 - 1977
Projects: Worked as a general laborer in Pittsburgh, PA. on a barge unloading facility for
U. S. Steel Homestead Works after graduating high school, and in the marine yard every
summer before graduating high school.
Position: Laborer.
Duties: Painted, welded, burned, repaired barges, cranes, tug boats, anything that needed
doing.
