Professional Experience
Turner Industries - A multi-billion dollar company, specializing in pipe
fabrication and maintenance. Performed many tasks pertaining to the quality
and testing aspect of the company. Various forms of NDT ranging from MT,
PT, UTT, and VT. Licensed Radiographer from the Texas DSHS for radioactive
materials. Utilized IR.192 and CO. 60 to x-ray welds and other products
produced onsite, to ensure quality and code compliance. Performed
dimensional inspections on process piping. Maintained documentation control
over materials. I then transferred from the Paris, TX fabrication shop, to
the Pasadena, TX location, where I was responsible for managing crews on
night shift performing their jobs safely and efficiently. I interacted with
our customers on a daily basis, ensuring their satisfaction with services
provided. Performed quality control on structural steel, as well as code
pipe.
MARCO INSPECTION SERVICES- Looking to make a change from a fabrication
environment to a field setting I contacted Marco Inspection Services, a
leader in the NDT industry in East Texas, I joined the Marco team as a
field technician. I performed various NDT methods including radiography,
penetrant testing, magnetic testing, ultrasonic's, PMI, visuals, etc.
Working in every environment from pipelines, sour gas facilities, tank
farms, to the gulf coast refineries. I then was offered a position as the
Corporate Radiation Safety Officer. I completed RSO training and Source
Retrieval classes through LAMCO & Associate on May 16, 2014. I took charge
of the safety program shortly after. The RSO position consists of
maintaining a safe work environment through continuing education for field
employees, safety meetings, surprise field audits etc. I am also
responsible for the companies compliance with all applicable regulation's
pertaining to having a radioactive materials license. Coordinating with the
Texas Department of State Health Services, Department of Homeland Security,
Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Defense, Department of
Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, Nuclear Regulatory
Commission, Environmental Protection Agency. Source retrieval is something
a RSO hopes to never have to do, but with my training, I was added to Marco
Inspection's license as an authorized source retrieval expert. In the event
a radioactive source should not be able to be retracted, it would fall onto
me to retrieve it. I also created a program that was approved by the Sate
of Texas to teach a mandated 40 hour radiation safety course to people new
to the industry.
SAULSBURY INDUSTRIES- I joined the team at Saulsbury Industries at their
Henderson, TX fabrication facility in October of 2014 as a QA/QC Inspector.
My job consists of a wide array of different tasks including: Dimensional
inspections, per isometric drawing requirements, on structural steel
fabrication, and process piping. Final visual weld inspection before items
are shipped. Instructing staff on the various welding procedures for the
various jobs. Ensuring that these procedures are being followed per the
specifications. I deal a lot with documentation control on piping jobs,
making sure that we have MTR traceability for all the components. I keep up
with all NDE requirements stated in the job scopes. I also review all the x-
ray film/documentation and make sure that it is all within code. Oversee
hydrostatic testing per compliance requirements. I perform paint
inspections as well. My tasks here are all across the board, and I have
enjoyed the different range of responsibilities.
