Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
Electronics Technician III, 5 years’ experience as a certified Primary Operator of Kineto
Tracking Mount (KTM). Excellent hand to eye coordination, verbal and written
communication skills, exceptional multitasking, organizational, and follow up skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products and able to work under high pressure situations.
Manage, operate and troubleshoot various types of automatic electronic data acquisition
systems.
“Manned” or “unmanned” operation in tracking fast moving objects very precisely
while providing time-space-position-information (TSPI) as required by test officers.
These systems are complex Kineto Tracking Mounts (KTM) and Slaved Target Arena
Tracking Systems (STATS).
Oversee the preparation to determine the number of instrumentation assets needed to
support various weapons systems testing.
Determine required location of instrumentation using trigonometric principals to
calculate proper look angles and intercept points necessary to the test plan.
Input parameters using algebraic principals with the use of computer to control the
sequence of the tracking systems to calculate simulations to track various artillery
weapon systems.
Determine and develop the correct Ballistic Coefficients filters (BC), velocities and
Quadrant Elevations (QE) to eliminate or smooth out the data needed to point the
instrumentation to the correct trajectory to capture the data required by the test.
Assemble and emplace high speed cameras (Nac 500) onto instrumentation to ensure
proper operation at optimum levels.
Directing and assigning specific tasks to lower grade technicians to assist during the
conduct of tests.
Investigate technological advances in equipment and instrumentation and report findings
to superiors.
Formulate and calculate subject size, shutter speed and trigger points to insure successful
capture of images.
Operate test equipment to record data, and download and copy data onto various media
for quick-look images.
Analyze test data to identify problems. Devise methods for modifications to
instrumentation in accordance with specifications and guidelines
Integrate and communicate with multiple Kineto Tracking Mounts via Fiber Optics and
wireless networking.
Troubleshoot, field integrate instrumentation due to software and/or networking
problems, and determine the need for equipment to upgrade, modify or repair.
Perform feasibility study to identify cost requirements needed to incorporate new
technology, and prepares a technical proposal for review.
Ensure post-test video editing and event interpretation as requested by project engineers.
Lead technician on numerous projects. (Excalibur, PGMM, ATAPS, PGK, etc).
