Safety and Regulatory Compliance Manager

Responsible for all Safety and Regulatory Compliance programs for 600,000 sq ft manufacturing facility employing 530+ union and non-union employees.

Direct day-to-day activities of the Safety Office including supervision of three Safety Coordinators.

Behavioral Based Safety Director - lead interdepartmental safety team in driving positive safety cultural change.

Honda of Canada Manufacturing (HCM) – Various Roles; Alliston, Ontario

09/1999 - 2/2005

Environmental Compliance Specialist – 10/2003 – 2/2005

•Member of the Safety/Environmental Group, Project Leader (P/L) for the National Pollutant Release Inventory report (NPRI, TRI/Form R in the US) and Ont Reg127 report including project management, communication with various government agencies, data collection, analysis, calculations, management presentations and generation and submission of reports using government issued software.

•P/L for the Waste Survey Report (sewer by-law), quarterly wastewater sampling, contaminant tracking, management presentations and generation and submission of report to the Township.

•P/L for stack emission testing and annual waste audit. Reported monthly plant wide VOC emissions to both the Planning Dept and the Environmental Committee, reported to both the Provincial and Federal Governments for Gasoline Regulations, screened new materials for use and updated chemical database, wrote ISO 14001 Environmental operating procedures, assisted Lead Auditor in internal department environmental audits, wrote articles for the plant-wide Environmental Communication board and magazine.

•Operated weather station and facilitated the company wide Environmental Orientation Training Package to all new Associates. During this time at HCM, I also joined my second NH Circle with a theme to reduce recyclable material going to landfill and I received my '5 Year Service Award'.

Assistant Production Team Leader – 05/2002 – 10/2003

•Promoted to Zone Operator (Assistant Team Leader) - responsible for the daily management and scheduling of 20+ Associates in C-1 Zone in the Weld Dept in Plant 2, both line-job training and ISO 9000/14000 document training for all new associates, performing all zone processes and supporting other zones for production support and overtime. In 2002, I formed and was the leader of a NH Circle focusing on an ergonomic related safety issue in C-1 Zone. My Circle's invention of a new style of air gun and overhead support system, once fully integrated, was able to eliminate all injuries at a difficult zone process and had a cost savings in excess of $100,000 per year – received 'QC Tools' Award and was a finalist for HCM's submission to the Ergo Cup. Received my '500' and '1000 REACH Point Milestone' awards for participating in the company wide REACH improvement program. *Promoted to Environmental Compliance Specialist in 10/2003.

Weld Line Production Associate – 09/1999 – 05-2002

•Performed all zone line processes including mig welding, hand-spot welding, grinding, and various parts installation. Due to my high quality of work and attention to detail, I was often asked to support other zones for production overtime. Consistently volunteered for the opposite shift Saturday production overtime and also for pre and post shift preparation and housekeeping duties. Due to my work ethic, leadership, teamwork and commitment to quality, in 2001, I was one of a select few to be chosen as a member of the New Model team for the prototype build of the Honda Pilot SUV at Honda of America Mfg’s (HAM’s) research and development facility in Marysville, Ohio. *Promoted to Assistant Production Team Leader in 05/2002.
