Lake County Government June 2011 – March 2014

Engineer in Service and Support Division of Lake County Government’s department of technology that serves over 3,000 employees, over 70 Remote Sites, and over 350 Microsoft Servers with various flavors from Windows Server 2003 – Server 2012. I work to support business outcomes and business changes at the speed of our customer needs while ensuring stable and low-risk environment for the county. With a goal to ensure our customers can use the services when and where needed, I manage risk in line with business needs; optimize customer experience; show value for money when making purchasing decisions; and bring a high level of commitment to continually improve myself and our systems processes.

Specific duties include:

Support county-wide systems: Work on Microsoft Active directory in mixed environment of Microsoft Server from Server 2003 – Microsoft Server 2008R2; Migration path and planning on upgrading MS Servers to Server 2012; Group Policy Deployments based on departmental needs and approval. Managed and troubleshoot DHCP and DNS Servers Reservations, exclusions, MAC assignments, C-Name, Routing and port assignments. Troubleshoot Cisco VPN connections from client to corporate servers on Windows 7 and Windows 8 Clients, proper access to assign Network Resources. Install hardware and custom software to access State of Illinois databases. Elevation of permissions based on ESAR. Experience in Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for deployment of OS and batch files, Packaging, Capture and Deploy testing of images maintained packages for different departments. Write minor batch files to accommodate installation / uninstallation of software on Enterprise Level through Group Policy. Self-employed as network consultant, helping small and medium sized I.T. firms complete client projects. I’ve been involved with identifying systems needs and designing solutions appropriate to client budget and complexity of the business processes.
