PROJECT-5 Ralph Lauren
Duration : Feb 2015 till date.
Ralph Lauren is publicly traded, US based holding company involved in designing, marketing and selling high end Men, Women and children apparel, Accessories, Fragrances and home furnishings. In Ralph Lauren, SAP is replacing a mix of processes across various platforms, including Infinium and CSM which are the legacy systems. Hence Data Migration comes into picture. The various process areas included OTC, PTP, RTR, HTR and BI.
Key responsibilities:
Designing Data Flows for extracting data from various sources that included databases, flat files etc.
Loading data from source files into ECC using IDOC and BAPI.
Error Handling and creating error reports for reporting the errors in the data to the functional owner.
Optimizing the long running jobs by using techniques like push down operations, use of Degree of Parallelism, loaders etc..
Maintaining standards (naming convention) and Quality.
Using designer to create source definitions, design targets, create Data Flows and develop transformations.
Creating Global variables, local variables and Substitution parameters as per the scenario respectively.
Creating different transformations for loading the data into various database e.g. Query, case, Pivot, Table Comparison, Validation, Merge, and Key Generation.
Using BODS designer functions like Look up_ext, decode, Nvl, Gen_row_num functions to attain the required functionality in the Functional specifications.

HR Data for various info-types. The data for some of the info-types was manually created in excel sheets by the HR/HCM (human capital management) functional team which had to be loaded into SAP using. For this, I created ABAP data flows/Work flows in Data services involving IDocs and BAPI that suited the scenario for which data had to be loaded into SAP.

Converse is a subsidiary of Nike Inc. that has been making shoes, lifestyle fashion and athletic apparel.
With the tag line “Plug into Better” AMP is a major SAP implementation in Converse with the goal of providing a unified ERP system across the company.
Converse has chosen SAP Apparel and Footwear (AFS), SAP’s new e-business solution addressing the particular requirements of the apparel and footwear industry.

The company is best known for its flagship product Coca-Cola. This was the first Indian release and I worked as a shared resource between ABAP team developing conversion programs using ABAP and Data migration team doing developments using Data services.
