Dear Hiring Manager:

This letter is to express my interest in the Structural Bridge Engineering positions that are, or may become available in the Pittsburgh area. For the past 7+ years, I have been actively involved in projects for Westinghouse Nuclear and Northrop Grumman Ship Building that have presented unique challenges and opportunities that have allowed me to develop pertinent technical, management and leadership skills. It is my desire to use these skills to become more specialized in the structural aspects of bridge design and, I believe, these skills are potentially consistent with your interests in staffing Structural Bridge Engineering positions.

The key strengths that I possess for success in the position include, but are not limited to the following:

Analytical, Problem Solver

Critical Thinker

Strong leadership qualities

Strong communication skills

“Team First” attitude

Self-starter and fast learner

Working towards my PE

Strong interest in structural bridge design

You will find me to be well spoken, energetic, confident, personable, and most of all team-oriented. My wide breadth of experience in engineering and project management also offer me additional versatility in the workplace. While each of my past professional experience may demonstrate well one or more of the qualities noted above, interestingly enough, it may be my service to a local volunteer charity, the Cranberry CUP, that provides the single best venue to illustrate my skills, personal strengths and abilities. I have been actively volunteering for the Cranberry CUP for 6 years, directing Annual Softball Fundraising Tournaments for 4 years and also serving on the Board of Directors for the past 2+ years. My ability to successfully plan, lead, coordinate and manage all the efforts necessary to accommodate 52 teams and more than 800 coaches, players and umpires to a successful conclusion best illustrate my strengths.

Accordingly, I ask for the opportunity to meet with you to discuss your interests and assess my credentials. I can be reached anytime via my cell phone, 724-***-****. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you about this employment opportunity.

Sincerely,

Thomas E. Hineman III
