Dex Media, Inc. is a print and digital/interactive marketing company. The main objective of this project is to build a data mart for capturing events and current status of all workitems processed in “ORCH System” and “PGT System”. I am mainly involved in two subject areas namely WIP, TURNAROUND and CBR. The data mart build to suffice the need of reports belonging to the following categories: dashboards and production control reports. The professional reports were created by Cognos and ETL work was performed by Informatica.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Responsible for analysis the data and develop/understand the ETL specifications.

Created Informatica mappings to implement business rules to load data. Most of the Transformations were used like the Source qualifier, Aggregators, lookups, Filters, Update and Sorter & Sequence Generator.

Used Informatica features to implement Type II changes in slowly changing dimension tables.

Developing Informatica mappings & tuning them when necessary.

Optimizing Session Performance using partitioning techniques.

Unit and System Testing of developed mapping.

The main objective of the project was to create repository system (DDR) containing data from various source systems, including APECS, eClinical, and CDSS, RCM, and the PRC Database. The repository provides an efficient and reliable means for generating reports. The system is scalable to encompass future business and reporting needs of the organization, such as the creation of data marts and interfaces with the new and ongoing systems. It also provides a central location for key data elements that can be accessed by external systems and reporting tools.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Extensively used Informatica power center for loading the data from various sources involving flat files and oracle tables.

Worked on change data capture.

Analysis of certain existing mappings, which are producing errors and modifying them to produce correct results.

Developed mappings using Informatica Power Center to load the data in slowly changing dimensions.

Involved in unit testing and performance tuning.

Worked on views, functions and SQL queries and Defined DDL’s for loading the data.

BIGW is a subset of Woolworth’s supermarket which is a leading company in retail industries in Australia. The project comprises of creating an Enterprise data warehouse solution for BIGW to help its business automation. Source data is taken from in the form of flat files which will be validated and cleaned according to the business rules in the staging area before loading into the DWH. ETL scripts are used to load this data from source to STG and STG to DWH.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Monitoring the Informatica workflow jobs that transfer data between multiple systems.

Attend to Informatica job failures by analyzing the root cause, resolving the failure using standard documented process.

Escalating to other teams such as Informatica Admin, DBA, and Network Admin as and when applicable.

Extract data and prepare daily reports to be sent to the client and also to various internal teams for MIS purposes.

Ensure that daily support tasks are done in accordance with the defined SLAs
