Director of Human Resources – MW Region
Reporting to V.P. Human Resources Americas with responsibility for all human resource related issues throughout the region including employee relations, recruiting, benefits, compensation, AAP, EEO, and labor relations. Region consists of 7 mines throughout Indiana and Illinois. Region produces approximately $400 million in EBITDA with a total headcount of approximately 1900 employees.
Directed the transition of staffing from 5 different mines as they reached the end of their life cycle to new mines with minimal loss of FT positions.
Worked as part of a team to standardize policies which had not been previously addressed during the acquisitions of various companies.
Closely involved in negotiations with the UMWA at our only represented mine in Southern Illinois.
Lead the role out of two different Voluntary Separation Agreements in the MW region in an effort to reduce salaried staffing due to the market downturn in the coal industry.

Group consisted of 6 different operating divisions of which two were unionized. Sales for the Group were approximately $275 million with a total headcount of approximately 1500 employees.
Led negotiating teams for the Wiegmann and Gleason Reel facilities dealing with the Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association and the IAM.
Ensured regulatory compliance through writing, review and revision of policies and procedures.
Directed the timely hiring of an additional 120 employees during the acquisition of 2 product lines at the North Carolina facility.
Acquired training grants through state agencies to improve operational efficiency and safety.
Manager of Human Resources, Wiegmann Facility (1999 – 2004)
Reported to the V.P. Brand Mgr. at the facility with the responsibility for all human resources at the location. Division sales were approximately $30 million and staffing consisted of approximately 300 employees.
Reduced workers compensation costs by 60% during the first 2 years through the use of job rotation, on-sight physical therapy, and improved light duty program.
Implemented a no-fault attendance program that reduced absenteeism by 23%.
Led the negotiation team during concessionary bargaining to savings of $2.4 million over 3 years through wage concessions, benefit reductions, and improved job flexibility.
