AREAS OF EXPERTISE:

Land Mobile Radio (LMR)

Programmed, maintained and troubleshot various analog and P25 Motorola and Kenwood mobile and portable radios. Tuned and aligned duplexers, combiners, MC3000, and consollettes. Performed optimization on Quantar, GTR8000 and Tait repeaters. Installed and maintained over 25 repeaters over four locations in Afghanistan.

Installed approximately 1000 Motorola and Kenwood mobile vehicle radios and programmed over 2000 handheld radios for Department of State vehicle.

Familiar with Electronic Countermeasure systems; was responsible for the proper operations and testing of ECMs prior to convoys while assigned as an S6 (C&E) supervisor in Afghanistan.

Installed HF, VHF, UFH, and SHF omni, directional antennas and PTP microwave dishes on towers and roof tops.

Tested overhauled/repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency; Familiar with using IFR and Motorola Communication Spectrum Analyzers, watt meters, multimeters, and cable test devices.

Designed codeplugs for several different government agencies within the U.S. embassy to integrate different communication platforms into one and the replacement of all infrastructures updating the current aging LMR system facilitating enhanced interagency cooperation and flow of information.

Often built cables for radio network installations. Wired buildings with Land Mobile Radio coaxial, CAT 5e/6, and fiber optic cables for voice and data telecommunication and radio networks; weather proofed and terminated ends, spliced copper wire and completed cable testing using different test equipment.

Installed ground buses. Grounded antennas and used polyphasers to protect communications equipment; secured cable to tower using cable clamps.

Assisted in installing and linking a new Key Management Facility with Over The Air Re-key capabilities, Global Positing System, and Infrastructure Control Systems into the new simulcast radio network.

Military / Satellite / Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator and Maintainer

Installed tactical vehicle communication kits which included Advanced FM radios (ASPIS), Defense Advanced GPS Receivers, and Mobile Tracking Systems.

Have experience with SINCGARS, BFT’s, BCS3, CPOF, TACLANES, and Promina systems and equipment.

Monitored military UHF and SHF radio terminals and Radio Access Units; troubleshot and resolved equipment failure, restored or replaced communications equipment, diagnosed and corrected radio transmission to keep reliability above 98% and tested and analyzed network coverage.

Troubleshot, identified, and replace defective components. Performed operational checks and maintained inspection and maintenance records.

Experience working with ARA-0548 X-Wing and ARA-2576 foldable SATCOM antennas.

Planned and Established tactical Large Area Networks (tactical simulcast network) for voice and data communications intended for mobile and stationary military units.
