TITLE: AUTOMATIC RECLOSURE IN DISTRIBUTION LINES (In Second Year)

When an overvoltage or short circuit occurs in the distribution line, the relay trips the circuit breaker. The circuit breaker isolates the faulty parts in the transmission line from the healthy parts. So it provides protection to the equipments in the distribution line since they are of high cost.

TITLE: SMES AND PHEV IN INTEGRATED ELECTRICITY GENERATION (In Third Year)

The aim of the project is to provide alternative power supply to power grid by SMES and PHEV in an integrated electricity generation during faulty conditions.The fault condition may arise due to failure of power souces or during maintanance hours.

TITLE: IMPROVED ACTIVE POWER FILTER PERFORMANCE FOR RENEWABLE POWER GENERATION SYSTEMS (In Final Year)

The aim of the project is to compensate the current harmonic components,unbalance currents, reactive power generated by single phase non linear loads and also to improve the power factor.The proposed system consists of a combinational circuit of a thyristor-controlled reactor (TCR) and shunt hybrid power filter (SHPF).The compensation performance under steady state and transient operating conditions are demonstrated through simulations and experimental results.
