Research Assistant – UBC Pharmaceutical Science Jan 2015 – Present

-Study the post-transcriptional regulation of nuclear receptors in response to drug treatment. (Assisting on

a PhD’s thesis project) Investigating changes in miRNA expression as well as downstream mRNA and protein

expression in response to drug treatment, using Luciferase reporter gene assay, RT-PCR and western blot.

Involved in experiments designing, writing detailed protocol, data processing and results interpretations.

Research Assistant – UBC Food, Nutrition and Health May 2014 – Apr 2015

-Stably transfected cell line generation. Generated a stably transfected cell line, optimized transfection and

experimental protocols. Verified transfection efficiency using confocal microscopy.

-Verify the effect of zinc depletion in the apoptosis and DNA damage of breast cancer cells. Studied the

change in expression levels of apoptotic genes of breast cancer cell line in response to zinc depletion using

Western Blot. Worked on various projects independently and troubleshot technical problems.
