PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Elliott Management Corporation, New York, NY – Systems Administrator 1999–Current

Contributed to the growth and development of an IT Department of two, that supported ten servers and 75 staff, to a Department of twenty, supporting several hundred servers, in an organization that exceeds 300 staff spread across four globally diverse offices managing more than $23 billion in assets.

Network Monitoring – proactive device discovery and inventory of a global infrastructure of 3,000 devices with 7,500 active monitors checking the status of interfaces, disk utilization, power supplies, temperature, Microsoft SQL, Exchange, DNS and a number of Windows and Linux

services across multiple VLANs, employing Cisco Works, WhatsUp Gold and Solarwinds Orion.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server – building and upgrading servers in a highly available capacity and their management from versions 1.6 through 10.2.4, including the configuration and deployment of handheld devices and applications for efficient local and international use.

Unified Contact Manager Deployment – installation and management for handheld devices utilizing a low maintenance, highly available enterprise wide service, attaining contact continuity, personnel privacy, disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

Trading Floor Backup and Imaging – took possession of the project after realizing the eighty pages of process instructions could be reduced to a few menu based scripts: one for imaging new workstations up to a network share, another for a scheduled task to create a full backup on target workstation and the last to archive the targets configuration, activate new VHD, rename, join the Domain and reset a number of groups, license keys and program configurations.

RSA SecurID – server rebuilds and migration and all management tasks required for the assignment, deployment and disabling of key fobs and soft tokens.

Bloomberg – router installation, desktop troubleshooting and software updating without requiring administrative privileges.

Desktop and Laptop Continuity – eliminated the use of Novell’s ZENworks endpoint management suite and wrote, implemented and maintained a script for global IT use to verify laptop, desktop and server security compliance reducing the pass–the–hash surface area. The script could also update most third party software and relevant security settings including video and wireless network drivers.

Video Conferencing – managed installation and software/hardware upgrades to Tandberg gateway, VCS Expressway, VCS Control, Codian MCU, TelePresence Content Server, TMS, 20 VC end points and Jabber clients. Troubleshooting general connectivity issues including VC drop-outs and primary contact for organizing external third-party meetings.

Disaster Recovery Preparedness – assisted in day-to-day operations in keeping the DR location operational and in a stand-by state, including monitoring generator, HVAC contractors, electricians, custodial staff and security. The attention to detail paid off when hurricane Sandy hit and the facility was ready to use and hosted assorted staff and families for several weeks.

Windows Profile Configuration – wrote and implemented a PowerShell script used globally to assist any user in the configuring of their desktop profile (email settings, favorites etc.)

Antivirus – installation, management and configuration of the TrendMicro OfficeScan servers and seasonal upgrades required on all servers, desktops and laptops including workgroup computers. Initiated policies on end point security, malware, and spyware remediation.

APC UPS – deployment and configuration for Smart and Symmetra RM UPS’s ensuring proper runtime and environmental temperatures notifications.

Reuters Edge – equipment installation updates and monthly DACS usage reporting.

VMware ESX – built and managed a live migration pair utilizing local storage and hosting more than a dozen of the fund’s critical production servers.

Help Desk Support – provide all levels of technical support for corporate client base, running Windows 7 Enterprise, Microsoft Office Suite 2007/2010/2013 and a large number of finance and custom applications. Including troubleshooting desktop, laptop and server issues, coordination of

equipment down time for patches and updates, parts replacement and full documentation of issues found and their resolution in the Help Desk Ticketing System.

Windows Desktop – assisted in the implementation of a Windows 7 OS build script that installed a new OS on a range of workstations and laptops which included the required drivers and applications for different departments across several international regions.

Windows Server – familiar with Server 2000, 2008 and 2012 using Windows Deployment Services, configuration and administration on assorted ProLiant, HP BladeSystem hardware and Hyper-V environments

Active Directory – managed users, groups and hardware across multiple domains in a single forest utilizing the principles of least privilege. Familiar with configuring and troubleshooting Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and using PowerShell and other command line utilities for report generation and change management.
