development of complex Project Controls systems, managed staff to achieve the best Project Controls practice

implementation, and directed system improvements, functional specifications, and testing design. Noteworthy projects

include:

•Darlington Retube and Feeder Replacement (RFR) Project. Monitoring and controlling the EPC Contract

planning/scheduling, cost control, estimating and Change Management of the RFR project (Joint Venture Aecon-

SNC Lavalin).

Hatch Ltd., Mississauga, Ontario

PROJECT CONTROLS MANAGER Sept 2007 – Nov 2012

Project Controls Specialist on large-scale global EPCM projects for major Hatch clients – oversaw the design and

development of complex Project Controls systems, managed staff to achieve the best Project Controls practice

implementation, and directed system improvements, functional specifications, and testing design. Noteworthy

projects include:

• Senior Cost Engineer on a CAD$211 million EPCM project to control the project cost and budget effectively,

experienced working in a project site for more than 4100 hours – established excellent rapport with client (Vale

Canada Limited), Engineers, Contractors, Suppliers, Project Area Managers, and Project Managers.

• Seconded to serve as the Global Functional Support Specialist for the cost controls system (IT Service

Manager) – directly supported 70+ EPCM capital projects ($37 billion), providing leadership to 15+ international

cross-functional team members working in consultancy with the stakeholders on the implementation, operation and

support of the system.

• Designed and implemented an Integrated Change Control process on a US$630 million EPCM project to control

the project scope, time and budget effectively – established excellent rapport with client, Project Area Managers,

and Project Managers.

SATCON Power Systems (Manufacturing Division), Burlington, Ontario

PROJECT ENGINEER Jan 2005 – Jul 2007

Contributed to a wide range of power conversion and distribution projects for key Canadian and US-based clients,

providing engineering design, production, and manufacturing support and playing a key team role on major

development projects.

Project Leadership:

• Senior project role on the design of a Power Distribution Centre for a major Canadian client – member of the

team charged with design of the controls and instrumentation, managed the project plan and scheduled project

change

• Initiated a project to improve documentation for the Photovoltaic Power Conversion System – restructured it into

a modular Bill of Materials and tabulated drawings, increasing efficiencies by 70%

• Fulfilled additional project and production leaderships roles, including project costing and budget control,

direction of progress review meetings, and production scheduling

Engineering:

• Designed and implemented a 1.2 megawatt EBOP Control System interconnecting devices with different

communication protocols including MODBUS RTU RS485 and Ethernet TCP/IP – utilized PLC, Digital Power

Controller Board, Maple systems HMI, and Digi-One IAP Port converter

• Led the design and production of Frequency Converters for a major US Military contract – designed single line

drawings, power schematics and enclosure layouts and coordinated all testing

• Team member on the design and quality control for an AE-PV series Power Converter for photovoltaic

applications.

Senior Project Management role overseeing the design and development of complex detection and self-protection

• Directed a US$22 million project to acquire, customize, and install active and passive detection systems across

6 Navy vessels – project involved design and installation of complex telecom and RF technologies, 6

communications and database interfaces, and was delivered within budget and ahead of schedule

• Directed the execution of a US$1.7 million project to install and integrate Electronic Test Banks for the Navy’s

maintenance facility – further developed continuous maintenance protocols that increased operative readiness by

80%

• Designed and led the project that increased safety, operability, and functionality of on-board SSM systems by

60%

ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING DESIGNER 1988 – 1998

Designed and/or managed design of engineering solutions for the maintenance and operations of self-protection

systems on board the vessel. Range of assignments includes:

• Led the design and implementation of a 150+-node Network Backbone LAN Ethernet, configuring VLAN network
