SUMMARY: 30 years working in string design, evaluation performance and selection of
OCTG materials for production of the Oil Industry. In the last 8 years I have been working
with ERW-OCTG manufacture, at Tenaris USA. I was in charge of Laboratory Activities
and Product Metallurgy supporting Heat Treat and ERW welding units. Result oriented,
professional with Administrative experience, Personnel Supervision, and Technical support.
EMPLOYMENT:
Maverick Tube/ Tenaris, Conroe TX. 2007- Present
Laboratory/Product Metallurgy Coordinator
CURRENT DUTIES:
Management of Metallurgy Laboratory Activities including managing people, training, test
•
execution ( Charpy, Tensile, Hardness, Microhardness, Spectrometer and Light and
Electronic microscopy).
• Run production trials to optimize Heat Treat parameters for ERW P110 IC-L80 IC with
carbon manganese and HSLA steel, for controlled yield and for the High Collapse products.
Improve the J55 products to get a better Cpk in the upper limit of the yield and prevent to
have crooked pipe at the Hydro.
• Provide support to ERW Welding operation including Weld/Seam Anneal evaluation to
improve fusion line toughness and run trials to qualify and validate the use of new steel
suppliers for the welded units.
• Coordinate and execute failure analysis of pipes and coupling for internal and external mills
with the use electronic microscopy, SEM
ACCOMPLISHMENT
High Cpk for the mechanical properties of the casing P110 IC (improve collapse) using a
C-Mn-Cr and B/Ti steels with larger hardenability.
Characterization of the weld area for different API casing products including the heat
affected zone and the flow lines of the ERW weld.
Develop Working Instructions for each of the lab test considering internal procedures and
API- ASTM standards
DMS, Drilling & Metallurgical Solutions, Venezuela 2003-2006
Consultant
Project Coordinator to improve the toughness of the welding zone in the manufacturing of
ERW tubular, P110 and N80, OCTG, and Line pipe X60 for PSL2 & PSL3 service in the oil
industry.
Characterization of the weld parameters, Heat and Pressure, to obtain a fusion line with much
better toughness.
PDVSA-INTEVEP: Technological Center for the Oil Industry of Venezuela 1980-2002
Oil and Gas Material Manager
CURRENT DUTIES:
Coordinate the laboratory and field activities, related with materials performance and
•
selection for the production operations in the petroleum industry.
• Coordinate team for Drill pipe Inspection using methodology ADIOS (TH) including
failure analysis of couplings
• Coordinate team for Casing & Tubing design and material selection for oil and gas wells
• Coordinate team work for quality control inspections of manufacture of tubular OCTG,
Christmas trees and valves.
ACCOMPLISHMENT
Design and coordinate lab installation for sour and CO2 material evaluation including
NACE standard and high pressure autoclave test
Material Lab and field evaluation of tubular for H2S, sour service, L80-C90- T95- C100
and C100S, for sour service, H2S and high chrome materials, 22%Cr, 13%Cr, 13%Cr-
5%Ni and bimetallic tubing, 13%Cr-4130, for CO2
Metallurgical evaluation of high tensile tubular, P110-Q125 and V140 and for high
collapse, HC95 and HC110 to elaborate the complementary specifications.
Conducted near 40 cases of material failure analyses of API and premium connections and tubular
for HPHT wells.
