SKILLS
Optimizing Cortical Mapping During Awake Craniotomy
EXPERIENCE Ann Arbor, MI
09/14-04/15 NeuroMap, Graduate Innovative Design Team
• Developed a matrix of tubing system that would demarcate functional area of the brain and perform irrigation to
prevent seizure during awake craniotomy procedure
• Drafted the prototype in Solidworks and tests irrigation simulation in Comsol
Predicting Mortality of ICU Patients with Low SAPS-1 Score Ann Arbor, MI
09/14-12/14 Data Science for Medicine Individual Project
• Programmed with Python and PostgreSQL to collect ICU patients’ data from MIMIC-2 clinical database and to
perform analysis on data
• Applied two prediction models, SVM and logistic regression to predict ICU patients’ mortality outcomes and
evaluated models by ROC-AUC and MCC metrics
• Refined model on the unbalanced dataset and produced a great performance on mortality prediction for the ICU
patients, indicating their potential as prediction tools to improve clinical care for at-risk patients.
Kellogg Eye Center Ann Arbor, MI
01/14-12/14 Patient Data Analyst, Retinal Scan Diagnostic Tool Database Project
• Implemented machine learning algorithms in Matlab to diagnose a patient with an inherited retinal dystrophy and
identifying the causative gene associated with it
• Interpreted and digitized patients’ pedigree information from patients’ paper chart, thus using the digitized
information as input vectors of the prediction model
• Accomplished a comprehensive survey (Lime Soft Survey) to collect patient data and act as classifier input,
which proved to be accurate and efficient in capturing patient family
• Built multiple prediction models, and acquired a 65% accuracy with SOM prediction model for the small and
skewed dataset
Medtronic China, Ltd Shanghai, China
09/12-07/13 Operation Assistant, Cardio Vascular Department
• Extracted and analyzed buy-in, implant and inventory data of the Medtronic cardio vascular products
• Kept tracking of KPI with real-time data reporting system and reported implant data forecasting
• Cooperated with colleagues in sales, marketing and clinical research department on DMS ordering, product
promotion and rebate processing
