Fourteen years’ experience in safety management where the main focus is zero accidents while at the
same time bringing in projects within or below budget and on time. Employee and management
commitment is key in reaching both goals. My safety approach builds that commitment.
WORK HISTORY:
My most recent employment was as Construction Safety Manager at Ford Chicago Assembly Plant
(contracted through Aristeo Construction) from March, 2007 until September, 2014 where I performed the
following:
● Conducted on site safety orientations (approximately 300 per year on average) Topics included OSHA
regulations as well as site specific plant rules that are outlined in the Ford 1100 Specification.
● Provided photo I.D. badges to each attendee. Badges were valid for a 12 month period.
● Directed the collection and testing of a nine panel drug screen utilizing local clinics. Confidential records
of test results were kept within a secure system for a one year period.
● Approved the selection of safety coordinators for each contractor company. This was achieved by
reviewing the persons resume and then submitting my recommendation to the manager of Ford Safety for
his approval.
● Conducted pre-job safety meetings with each contractor assigned work in the plant. Twenty-two safety
documents were reviewed and explained for proper completion and return to my office for file.
Contractor work could not commence until this process was completed.
● Assisted in the completion of JHA for each contractor assigned work and reviewed the completed
documents with the Ford Safety Department to ensure all work steps were listed and that all safety points
had been noted and then communicated with work force.
● Participated in on site safety oversight and completed regular audits with corrective actions
● Conducted regular safety meetings with various levels of management during projects
● Worked directly with the environmental department to address issues of their concern. My employer was
ISO 14001 certified. The training I received allowed me to work successfully and directly with Ford
Motor Company, the City of Chicago and the U.S. Coast Guard on environmental issues in and around the
assembly plant.
● The last three years of my employment realized zero recordable injuries for all contractors on all
work projects at the Ford Chicago Assembly Plant.
2006-2007: Safety Coordinator, Orbital Engineering, Griffith IN. In this position I had direct safety
management responsibilities over field forces assigned to work in the steel and refinery manufacturing
industries.
2005-2006: Safety Instructor, STT at BP Refinery, Whiting IN. I conducted the safety orientation
process for all contractor employees prior to their entry and work within the refinery.
2001-2005: During this period I worked for a variety of construction contractors in various industries
performing safety management functions overseeing special projects. Some of the notable contractors I
represented were Phillips-Getschow, Mid-west Steel Construction, Mid-west Conveyor Company, EWS,
and Kverner-Songer. I achieved accident investigation skills and their follow-up remedies during this
period of time.
