Project: Level 3 Support for Wealth Technology
Environment : IBM WebSphere, MQ, JSP, J2EE, spring, Position : Technical
Lead Client: TD Waterhouse.
TCS was taking handover of 45 java application for L3 support in the wealth
management application domain for TD Waterhouse. They were suit of
application providing various service to the Front end application called
Web- Broker. While they had similar architecture structure, they interfaced
with many data stores for extraction and storage that had issues from time
to time.
. Identifying and resolution of production defects.
a) Identified network bandwidth issue with one of the critical
application in TD - Web Broker. There was 100% channel utilization for
more than a year which had huge end user impact. Less than 10 MB
bandwidth was utilized for connectivity to IBM database.
b) Identified Capacity issue with the MQ channels being shared by
multiple web services.
Suggested separate channel per application to isolate issue with one
application impacting others.
. Minor enhancements for CASE applications.
a) Identifying and fixing current functional defects with the application
like synchronization issue, incorrect error mapping, and user friendly
validations.
b) Deployment planning of EAR file to production environment.
. Knowledge transfer from TD SME for 45 java/J2EE application.
. Setup of application and WebSphere configuration.

Project: Trade Completion Brokerage and Clearing, Environment Spring,
Java, DB2;
Position: Senior Associate
Project purpose was to handle all non-vanilla calculation of exchange (ex)
fees/discounts like monthly volume discounting, where information required
for calculating the fees and discounts is missing from the main database.
This was required by the Financial Controller Group (FCG) at MS to analyse
the trading pattern at various exchanges. The process could retrieve data
from various data sources like fx-filter, product d/b, ftp/http from a
remote server, data warehouse, etc. And used a strategy pattern to
determine the calculator for various scenarios like Average Daily volume,
Fixed Monthly Fee, monthly volume and transaction amount based fees. The
trigger process needed to be scalable to handle large volume of data (> 1
million trades) and run in parallel.
. Proposed the initial project idea based on functional limitation of a
previous project. Requirement gathering, analysis and designing of the
whole project.
. Developed a throttling process that produces xml message per row from a
.csv file and puts on the MQ for further processing depending on the d/b
load.
. The process could handle request from a scheduled trigger or ad-hoc.
. Added Monthly Fixed Fee for Tokyo
. Added Monthly Transaction Amount Based Fees for Osaka and Jasdaq.
. Added Monthly Volume based Fees for NYSE Arca Europe and SmartPool.
Project: TCBC library for d/b access (Athena), Environment Spring, Java,
DB2;
Position: Senior Associate
The new database used OO technology for database schema. The purpose of the
new database was to move away from mainframe DB2 technology and combine
trade concepts across front office and back office processes and be a one
stop place to find all trade related information.
. Provided specification documentation for all the schema changes required
on the database (d/b) for TCBC.
. Developed a Data Access Layer (DAO). Added time-out, back-out logic for
resiliency.
. Developed a reconstruction cache that merged results from d/b and another
cache.
. Resolved issues related to deadlock, high lock count and log space
issues.
. Remodeling and optimization of the queries for the new schema.
. Proposed the implementation of workload manager (WLM) during production
outage.
. Performance tuning for load balancing.
Project: Enhancements to TCLite for new tariff changes in European
exchanges, Environment Java, JXB, sql; Position: Associate
Analysing the tariff specification documentation provided by the various
exchange for their new platform and implementing the corresponding
functionality changes in Morgan Stanley system to handle the updated
system.
. Added Order fees based on transaction value for Xetra and Milan and OSLO.
. Added grouping logic for Order based fees to work under batching logic.
. Added Order fees based on trading criteria like aggressive, passive.
. Added Discount logic with banding and capping based dependent of fee
calculation.
. Modified logic to handle multiple fees and discounts based on different
criteria like volume and transaction value.
. Updated the process to differentiate between production messages and
white-box testing messages.
. Updated the trigger mechanism to identify message type and process in
parallel to improve load balancing.
. Enhancement to the process that downloads a file from remote server http.
. Training new teammates.
