Duties: Perform preventive maintenance inspections and repair on 10 to 1700
ton capacity a/c systems. Check electrical controls, safety controls, and
operation of equipment. Servicing split systems, package units, water-
cooled systems, exhaust fans, supply fans, circulator pumps, chillers and
cooling towers. Help with the installation of new equipment including
placement, piping and ductwork connections. Wiring of a/c units and control
circuits including thermostats, contactors, safety controls, oil pressure,
low pressure and high pressure controls. Performance of pressure washing
with chemicals on evaporator and condenser coils. Service and repair low
pressure boilers that use gas and oil fuels, forced warm air furnaces,
package units with gas heat, hot water heaters. Work on boilers also
included performing combustion efficiency tests and combustion safety
checks. With this information corrections are made if necessary. Correcting
violations found by a independent boiler inspector concerning operation
and/or safety issues found at Government locations (Postal Stations)
serviced by Zone Aire and correcting these problems within specific time
frames.
