Project: Finding economic effect of an event using topic modelling and event reference

Achievements:

Developed a complex system using Eclipse (Java) in order to find the economic effect of an event within a

time period. Large archives (3000+) of news articles (text corpus) are analyzed. Research covers a variety of

topics such as topic models, web content mining, Bayesian statistics, information theory, human annotation etc.

Project: Sentiment analysis using Naive Bayes Multinomial and EM algorithms

This projects intends to classify the sentiment towards cameras using data from twitter.

Achievements:

Researched and combined Naive Bayes Multinomial and EM algorithm that developed a model with

prediction accuracy of 89.6% for unlabelled dataset.

The only student that is able to take advantage of the unlabelled data (semi-supervised learning).

Project: Business intelligence report automation project

The department would like to automate one of the business intelligence reporting process in order to

improve productivity and reduce the amount of work allocated to team members.

Contributions:

Analyzed the node structure in the program flow, estimated resources and time (4 months) in order to

determine the feasibility of the project within constraints

Restructured the program flow and implemented designed solution by programming in SAS, provided

data visualization using Proc tabulate, Proc SgPanel, SgPlot, SgScatter etc.

Provided “one-click” solution to reformat and structure layout in Microsoft powerpoint

More than 80% of the overall manual work is automated. Human resources allocated to generating

weekly report reduced from 3 to 1.

schedule. By adopting the new process, average time of generating individual report reduced over 80%.

Contributions:

Primary developer and program analyst in Fee Calculator application support.

Analyzed data models

By investigating business rules, fixed logistics in Oracle stored procedures as well as in front end code

(Java), in order to correct the client fees or provide explanation of the cause of client fee change.

Composed solution promotion documents, coordinated promotion process from development to IST,

UAT and production by communicating with project manager, production support, change control and

one time solution would be to move the entire application to another platform that is free to use. Therefore,

the company decides to move its entire reporting system from Actuate to Jasper. The number of reports to

be converted is over 1000.

Contributions:

Retrieved necessary data for reports using complex SQL queries, aggregation functions.

Analyzed code structure regarding business logic in Actuate and provided corresponding conversion to

Jasper.

Migrated business intelligent report from Actuate report system to Jasper iReport system using iReport,

Actuate, Oracle SQL Developer and javascript.
