Civil Engineering Department, The University of Akron, Akron, Ohio, USA

Research Assistant/Engineer

Key Projects:

Testing an impact energy absorption capacity of standard concrete barriers (PCB and CIP) for rockfall protection

(Ohio Department of Transportation, ODOT).

Developing new designs of concrete barriers for rockfall protection based on field impact tests and computer

simulations (ODOT).

Small-scale drop tests in the laboratory for validation of field tests and analytical models.

Quantification and evaluation of cracks in reinforced concrete bridges in Ohio (ODOT).

Rollout test of rocks on typical Ohio slopes for validation of computer simulation (ODOT).

Helping professors on research projects, laboratory works and writing reports.

Structural design of multi-story residential buildings: reinforced concrete, timber and steel (Academic).

Achievements:

Improved the impact energy absorption capacity of concrete barriers using fibe rs and redesigned reinforcements.

Successfully developed analytical models to predict the ultimate carrying capacity of concrete barriers.

Developed finite element model for field tests using HYPERMESH/ABAQUS and validated with test results.
