PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
North Windsor, Princeton, NJ
SAS Analyst (2014.6 Present)
Participated in Customer Segmentation and Marketing Campaign Project, which is helping our client to grow business of
credit card by digging out more good performance customers.
Selected and extracted samples from a list of raw dataset according to the data mapping, eliminated duplicates, created a one
subject per row dataset with SORT and MERGE steps.
Established segmentation for the behavior of customer with PROC FORMAT based on their credit score. Applied this
segmentation on all selected samples.
Defined new variables and assigned different designated values to them based on campaign matrix using IF THEN DO
expressions in PROC SQL, and derived product information for each customer.
Performed data quality check with PROC MEANS and PROC FREQ for all numeric variables, focusing on minimum,
maximum, and missing values. Did correction for errors and marked missing value.
Checked data quality with PROC FREQ for all character variables. Found invalid and missing values. Corrected invalid
values and assigned supposed value to the missing ones.
Created a format to separate valid data from invalid data with PROC FORMAT. Applied this format to the whole dataset.
Checked formats for certain character variables. Manipulated irregular character value with SUBSTR function and
concatenation operator to correct them.
Defined a variable to calculate aggregate number of default with SUM statement and IF statement.
Created a Macro with keyword parameters of data cleansing process for future use, including PROC UNIVRIATE, PROC
PRINT and DATA step.
Split the dataset into 3 different percentages with DATA step as client required.
North Windsor, Princeton, NJ
SAS Analyst (2014.6 Present)
Participated in Risk Management Project and Basel 2 Project, which is helping our client enhance their risk management and
build a forecast model to predict delinquency asset, default portfolio and default time to achieve better performance.
Imported raw data into a new dataset with DATA step, and defined several new variables to calculate roll rate (RR) of
different time periods with LAG function.
Performed different calculations of RR for first appearance of every account and rest with First. automatic variable and IF
statement.
Calculated 3 month moving average analysis of RRs: For first appearance of every account, assigned missing value to all
RRs; For rest of the records, utilized SUM, LAG and N function to achieve moving average calculation. Discrimination of
first appearance and rest of the records was implemented by First. automatic variable and IF statement as well.
Converted original multiple row per account dataset into a one row per account dataset based on last step calculations. Only
kept the last record of every account with last. automatic variable and IF statement.
Selected, extracted and combined variables with PROC SQL. Eliminated duplicates with distinct option.
Kept the last month’s status of every account as an indicator to track whether a customer has charged off with IF statement.
Converted this character variable to numeric indicator 0 and 1 for further analysis.
Performed the time period: For charge off customers, calculated the time period from the beginning of study to the time that
they charged off with INTCK function; For non charge off customers, assigned a constant for this variable.
Performed logistic regression with PROC LOGISTIC and figured out the regression equation in order to find out the potential
relation between default behavior and the time period.
