Experience
ANC (Alberta Newsprint Company): (May-August of 2014)
• Working long shift work hours inside a mill, during the spring/summer months. Because I
worked on the paper machine floor, this job required intense amounts of efficiency,
productivity and responsibility along with a high degree of safety. Working under
pressure situations in a mill, I had to be diligent and consistent in my work to ensure
paper production didn’t fall due to my personal errors. As well, my entire time there was
spent working closely with my shift crew, as a unit we had to cooperate and function
cohesively to achieve excelled production rates.
• Included: 12 hour shift work hours (day and night), working in hot areas of the mill (60
degrees Celsius), work under pressure situations, ensure my safety while maintaining
productivity, cleaning the machine when it broke down, keeping the machine and my
work area clean, taking on responsibility in both and individual and a team setting.
• Initiatives taken: Would come in on all shut down days to fix clean and repair the
machine (including days my crew weren’t scheduled to work).

• Work indoors and outdoors, in many different conditions (rain, heat etc.), had to have the ability
to adhere to instructions and be responsible in order to still be productive during unsupervised
work. Ability to manage my time effectively and get the most done right in the least amount of
time was crucial to being productive.
• Included: cleaning carts, washing clubs, driving carts, keeping the course neat and clean, cutting
grass, early mornings, (6a.m.), use of machinery (mowers, weedwackers etc.), keeping the course
running smoothly.

• Work indoors, in a cold environment with ice and machinery that had to be handled carefully.

• Included: vacuuming, cleaning ice surface, shovelling snow off ice surface, “skinning” the ice
surface, finishing work correctly in limited time, sweeping and other little chores that needed
doing.
