The ACES Benefit System (ABS) is a client server application that
provides Inquiry and Maintenance functionality for ACES Benefit data (CT,
ME & NH). It has a Windows based front-end written in Visual Basic running
on the desktop, and an IMS transaction based back-end, written in COBOL,
running on a mainframe. The method of communication between the two is MQ
Series
ABS system contains almost all the information regarding products sold and
serviced by Anthem for the states of Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire and
Virginia. The data stored here is used by a large number of applications
within ACES. Systems such as Customer Service (MCW), Enrollment and Billing
(E&B), Contract Services, E-Business, IVR and Data Warehouse use interfaces
into the system to access product information. External feeds are sent
to specialty business such as Dental, Prescription Drugs and Behavioral
Health, as well as to Benefit Document publishing system xPression.
Examples of information contained are co-pays, coinsurance percents,
adjudication rules, individual and family maximums & coverage levels.
