PROJECT AT VSSC, TRIVANDRAM ON WIRELESS DATA ACQUISITION AND
PROCESSING:
A small scale embedded system was designed for wireless data acquisition and control
using PIC microcontroller in assemble language. The wireless communication eliminates
the need for devices to be physically connected in order to communicate. The present
DAQ system uses RF wireless communication at 915 MHz because of its wide spread
technology and has the advantage of immune to electrical noise interface. CC1101 was
the transceiver used and a microcontroller PIC18F6520 to handle the protocols.

SHADOW DETECTION AND REMOVAL IN COLOUR IMAGES USING MATLAB :
The moving shadow detection is based on edge information, which can effectively detect
the cast shadow of a moving object. The shadow eliminating algorithm removes the
boundary of the cast shadow and preserves object edges then it reconstructs coarse object
shapes based on the edge information of objects and finally, it extracts the cast shadow by
subtracting the moving object from the change detection mask and performs further
processing.
MINOR PROJECT:
SMS BASED DEVICE CONTROLLING :
A Home Appliance Control Device which control the home appliances through messages
received as SMS or GPRS Packets and also send acknowledgement of task. The
microcontroller used in this case is PIC16F877A Motorola W220 is used as the GSM
modem. In this prototype model, LCD display is used for simulation purpose. The timing
diagram suggests the response of the modem to various AT (attention) commands.
