The Hiring Manager
Chevron
USA
Dear Hiring Manager,
Re: Application for the position of Environmental Specialist
I express my interest and enthusiasm for the position of Environmental
Specialist as advertised on the company website.
I have a Masters Certificate in Project Management, a Masters of Science
degree in Analytical Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science degree in
Industrial Chemistry.
I have thirteen years of combined experience in environmental compliance
monitoring, regulatory permitting, health and safety, auditing and
reporting, inspection and investigation among others.
I have worked for various sectors such as mining, oil and gas, pipeline,
government and consulting among others. For example, I worked for the
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation as a Quality Control Chemist. I
have also worked for Atom Electroplating Limited, a medium sized
electroplating company and assisted them in satisfying their regulatory
obligation by preparing a report titled "Pollution Prevention Plan" and
submitted such report to the Ontario Ministry of the Environment for
regulatory approval. Furthermore, I worked for the Regional Municipality of
York, and assisted the region to process and secure Certificate of Approval
(CofA) for its waste depots.
During my career, I have worked on many projects where I led regulatory
processing of permits and approvals, conducted inspections, material
sampling, testing, assessed compliance with permit requirements and
environmental management act, monitored employee health and safety and
carried our remediation of contaminated land among others. I have knowledge
and experience in interpreting and applying health, safety and
environmental policies, acts, regulations and procedures.
Recently, I completed a two and half year contract with the operations
section of Environmental Protection Department (EPD) of British Columbia,
Ministry of Environment. During this time, I processed permits and approval
for clients and led various teams to conduct inspections on plant
facilities including wastewater and sewage treatment facilities to verify
compliance with permit requirements and Environmental Management Act. I
demonstrated excellent customer service and also applied my knowledge of
Environmental Management Act to solve complex EP projects and controversial
issues involving political, socio-economic and environmental factors.
I am a diligent staff who is flexible and able to work independently as
well as in a team environment. I am skilled in performing detailed work and
communicating effectively with diverse members of staff and the public. I
work under pressure and demonstrate commitment to work and achieve
organizational goals. I demonstrate initiative and approach issues with
innovative ideas. I display a high sense of customer service and also
demonstrate good judgement from time to time. I am confident that I have
the required training and experience to meet the needs of Chevron, and
would like to make an immediate contribution to your organization.
I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to discuss my
qualifications further. Thank you for taking the time to
review my resume.
Sincerely,
Abolade Badmos.
