FINAL YEAR PROJECT
Engine Instrumentation and Idle Speed Control:
The main objective was to implement and design “Engine Idle Speed Control Loop”, which
refers to controlling the IACV (Intake Air Control Valve) to adjust the air/fuel ratio to keep the
engine RPM (Speed) at the set reference point with the change in engine load, It was
implemented using QORIVVA-5634M (Freescale Microcontroller) and custom IAC (Intake Air
Control) circuitry . A MATLAB based GUI (Graphical User Interface) was developed for Data
logging and display of Engine parameters along with sensor calibration using MATLAB’s curve
fitting tool for the parameters, i.e. (Engine Crank Speed, Intake Manifold Pressure, Intake Air
Temperature, Throttle Position, Engine Coolant temperature & Air Fuel Ratio).
The project was implemented on IDSI 1.3L Petrol Engine of automobile (Honda Jazz).
