Academic Projects
• Manufactured SiC-based ceramics with the reinforcements of CNTs and TaC by Spark Plasma
Sintering technique, and investigated the running parameters on the microstructural
development and mechanical properties of the sintered samples.
• Performed oxidation tests ceramics using TGA, and characterized the oxidation mechanism of
TaC additives on CNTs/SiC ceramics with SEM, XRD and Raman.
• Carried out dynamic impact on composite materials (carbon/epoxy, glass/epoxy, and ceramics)
with Spilt Hopkinson Pressure Bar, and combined the failure modes into VUMAT with
ABAQUS to model the failure of composite materials under high strain rates.
• Modified ASME-C1421 standard to perform the dynamic fracture toughness tests on ceramics.
• Site visited central air-conditioner manufacturing plant, performed the stamping test of plate-
fin structure using hydro pressure machine, and created modeling with ABAOUS to simulate
the thermal deformation and stress distribution during brazing, 2007-2010.
• Two months internship in brazing the copper based plate-fin structure for central air-
conditioners in 2009.
• Teaching assistant for the courses of Solidworks, 2010-2012.
