Developed high tensile self adhesive asphalt-polymer water-proof membranes by using liquid applied
coating method and designed the prototypes for roofing.
Supported product development of R&D department by conducting mechanical, chemical and physical
tests, assisted principle scientist to analyze the test results, write reports, and provide suggestions.
Created standard operation process (SOP) manuals for laboratory equipments, and developed standard
characterization procedures to meet ISO and ASTM standards, improved R&D efficiency 30% by
reducing test time.
Analyzed market trend and proposed a new product line to boost our market share in South America
by reviewing literatures and studying competitor’s products.
Trained colleagues to operate new equipments, and helped internal and external customers on their
characterizations. Supported manufacturing plants and marketing department on raw material selection,
competitive products benchmarking, and products failure prevention.
Managed R&D lab on chemical hygiene, safety inspection, inventory management, and logistic service.
Research Assistant AMPAC, UCF (2010.05 – Present)
Built diblock copolymers PVSZ-b-PS by RAFT polymerization and colloid technique; converted it into
hollow nanospheres, mesoporous material, nanostructured crystal by self-assembling for the applications
in catalyst, bio-medication, and energy storage. Being invited to present this innovative synthesis method
at international conferences (MS&T, ICACC).
Developed polymer monolayer using Langmuir-Blodgett deposition method, and converted it into silicon
carbide thin film with scattering, dendric branch and linear alignment structures.
Formulated poly (aluminasilazane) for SiAlCN thermal and environmental barrier ceramic coating.
Employed FIB to fabricate it into less than 100 nm scale with an extremely smooth surface and super-
high accuracy. Motivated the cooperation of AMPAC with Electricite de France (EDF).
Synthesized carbon nanofibers (20 vol. %) reinforced ceramic nanocomposite with improved toughness
by infiltrating CNF-preform with liquid-phased polymeric precursor.
Designed and synthesized polymer polyborosilazanes with ultra-high yield (90%) and sintered into
SiBCN ceramics with very high thermal stability (2000 Assisted supervisor to compose proposal, and
C).
won a 1.01 million grant from Department of Energy (DOE).
Developed poly(vinylsilazane) for UV and heat cured glass/ceramic coatings, researched and mastered
their structure-property relationships.
Guided a material fabrication team (3 graduates and 1 undergraduate) to design and fabricate
semiconductor devices, it demonstrated excellent performances under harsh environments (increased
operation temperature from 500 º to 1300 º
C C).
Research Assistant Sichuan University, China (2007.09 – 2009.07)
Invented environment friendly organic softener-stearic acid triethanolamine ester quaternary salt through
ionic polymerization.
Synthesized Surfactant Poly(ethylene glycol)acrylate and Poly(ethylene glycol)phosphate as excellent oil
displacement agent, analyzed the surface tension and foam ability.
