Software Development

In Pakistan

. Developed Library Automation Software for Cantonment Board Library. The

system can search any information on Author, Title, Library member using

a variety of ways. Other features include generation of letters to

defaulters, management summaries on various recorded data

(regular/student/general members, frequently issued/less frequently

issued books, damaged/lost books etc). (Developed Jan 1991)

. Designed and developed 'Student Assessment System' for CDS, to

record/monitor various exams through out the semester and prepare

assessment sheets at the end of semester. (Developed Nov 1991)

. Designed and developed 'Computerized Payroll System' for National

University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). The system generates

various reports (Pay sheets, slips, summaries for various funds, lists

for bank etc). Data backup/restore features allow to process information

pertaining to any month of the year. The easy user interface was designed

for people with no prior computer background. (Developed October 1992)

. Designed and developed 'Automated Merit System' for NUST, which is being

used for selection of students at BS/MS level. The system imports data

generated by OMR and calculates the results by applying given formulae to

prepare merit list. Based on the number of seats allocated for various

disciplines and candidates' choice of discipline, selection of students

is carried out automatically. (Developed May 1993)

. Designed and Developed 'Internet Usage Billing System' for COMSATS

(Internet Service Provider), The ISP offers three different rates during

different periods of the day. The system calculates the number of seconds

for these periods from stop date/time and total seconds used and

performing various calculations to calculate the payments. Generates

email messages containing billing and/or credit information. Generates

hard copies of bills and various management summaries. Includes regular

features of insertion/deletion/updation/backup/restore etc. (Developed

November 1994)

. Designed and Developed a 'Computerized Accounting System' for Latif Ghee

Industries (Pvt) Ltd. Islamabad (the largest cooking-oil/bi-products

manufacturers in the sub-continent). The system is capable of generating

various financial reports (Trial Balance, Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet,

customer/supplier/employees' balances, Account details etc). Includes

regular features of accounts like creating/updating/posting/closing of

accounts etc. (Developed December 1995)

. Designed and Developed an 'Automatic Receipt Generation System' for a

gold smith (ITJ Simba Metal Service). The system consists of normal data

storage/retrieval/search functions with backup/restore features. It reads

the weight of material from an electronic balance connected at serial

port, calculates the prices, deductions etc and prints the receipts. A

sub-system generates the gold test/refine report by analyzing the data

entered. Copies of the same system are running at two more places in the

same market. (Developed Jul 1994, Updated May 1997)

. Designed and Developed 'Computerized Transaction Tracking System' for

Khyber Shippers (Pvt) Ltd. The company is involved in Import/Export

business. The software developed is meant for quick generation of reports

concerning the current status of consignments. Major features include

heavy reporting (based on different criteria), accounting management

(upto trial balance), handling of various bills (Airway Bill, Bill of

lading etc). (Developed October 1997)

. Developed a Calls Record Keeping System for SIEMENS Pakistan to monitor

the calls on PABX switching system installed in major industries and

hospitals. Software allows upto 4 switching system to be connected to the

computer for such recording. System is mainly being used for record

keeping and generation of various reports. (Developed Mar 1998). This

software was not implemented.

. Modified the Library Automation Software for Cantonment Board Library to

a Client/Server modal using MS SQL Server as backend database and Visual

Basic on front end. A number of new features including automatic

generation/transmission of email messages on various issues, processing

of email based requests for availability of books, due dates, extension

requests for borrowed material, bar coding of books/journals, displaying

announcements for staff etc. were added. (Completed July 1998).

. Designed and implemented a Windows NT based LAN at National University of

Sciences and Technology, involving Proxy Server to provide Internet

access to various departments. (September 1998)

. While working as instructor, supervised over 200 software projects

developed by students as practical assignments.

In Singapore

. While working with MARKSERV, developed an email based Data

Synchronization System for MARKSERV Group, Singapore. This system is

capable of transporting data changes (based on certain criteria) from

branches to head office automatically and vice versa. Other features

include processing email-based requests for saving attachments into

specified folders, requests for attaching any file from the branch

computer and sending to head office and deletion of requested files. A

security log is maintained to monitor data requests from unauthorized

email addresses which helps in sending notifications to head office in

such events, giving (virtually) full control on the group database

including deletion, re-indexing of database while sitting in the head

office. Since the system is using emails to perform all these tasks so

the branches anywhere in the world can be connected to head office.

(Developed Nov 2001)

. While working with MARKSERV, developed a Torque Monitoring System for ZF

Steering, Malaysia (a car steering manufacturing company) and Fujian

Jinduo Bearing Industry, China. Main features of the system are reading

torque values generated by torque wrenches on RS232 ports, communicate

with PLC by exchanging signals to monitor/control various operations

during processing of steering work-pieces (Developed March 2002).

. Carrying out software troubleshooting/maintenance for NOV clients.

. Developed an Employee Management System for Coilcraft Singapore Pte Ltd.

The system features reading data from Attendance Clocks for attendance

management (equipped with various reports), monitors transfers of

employees from one department to other (keeps the history for reporting),

has miscellaneous features customized for Coilcraft Singapore needs.

. Developed an MS SQL based full-fledged inventory system for Coilcraft

Singapore, equipped with hundreds of reports from purchase requisitions,

purchase orders, goods receiving, stock maintenance, sales, internal

issues, inventories for project management, aging, transactions a lot

more reports.

. Developed an MS SQL based financial accounting system DeskSys, for

Coilcraft Singapore that contains A/R, A/P, F/A, G/L and miscellaneous

features. This user-friendly software is equipped with numerous functions

that help is tracing errors in documents. There are 2 versions of this

software available (1) Multi-Currency data input with Single Currency

reporting; (2) Multi-Currency data input with Dual Currency reporting.

Most of the report are written for outputting data to Preview/Print,

Excel (Ready to Present), CSV and ASCII. The powerful template based

financial reporting allows accounts people to design any type of reports

from the G/L. Flexibility of keeping multiple P&L and Balance Sheets

templates. Suitable to both for trading and manufacturing organizations.

. Developed an MS SQL based project monitoring system, for R&D department

of Coilcraft Singapore that captures max data related to R&D projects

(entered by many other departments) and generate reports on project costs

for completed, on-going, closed, cancelled etc projects. System generates

reports for purchases, goods requested for purchase and goods on purchase

orders along with requestor, departments, quantities, values etc. Same

data is exportable to G/L for financial reporting.

. Developed an MS SQL based system, for mechanical parts fabrication

facility of Coilcraft Singapore that captures huge amounts of data

including purchasing of raw-materials, spares, equipments etc, issues of

these materials to production while keeping the inventory status and

other related information updated in the system. Allows addition of

information on men, machines and processes used for various production

cycles along with start-complete time to calculate various costs

incurred. Data allows generation of reports like man-power, materials

used, process hours (for a job, for a period, for an employee, for a

customer etc etc). System records per hour rates (updateable by

privileged users) for various job categories (engineers, supervisors,

operators etc), various machines and various processes, which give users

to generate accurate cost reports. System features an in-built quotation

generation module that works based on estimated values for processes, man-

hours, material etc provided by engineers.
