PROJECT MANAGEMENT (Representative Projects)

Contaminated Site Investigation, Characterization, and Remediation Projects

• Site Characterization and Remediation, Busch Gardens Amusement Park, Williamsburg, Virginia :

Project Manager responsible for design, installation and performance monitoring for an air sparge

remedial well system. The air sparge remedial system was installed to support remedial efforts with a

MTBE-containing gasoline plume. Project involved Virginia Department of Environmental Quality

(VDEQ) regulatory planning and client reimbursement through the Virginia Petroleum Storage Tank

Fund. Project logistic complications revolving around steep terrain and the park operational schedule

were overcome during installation and monitoring. .

• Environmental Site Investigations, Newport News Shipbuilding, Newport News, Virginia: Project

Manager performing initial abatement, site characterization, risk assessment, and evaluation of

remediation alternatives associated with fuel releases, underground and aboveground storage tanks,

and soils impacted by heavy metals. Projects involved subsurface exploration/delineation, laboratory

analysis, and identification of potential receptors. Remedial alternatives included pump and treat,

bioremediation, mobile multi-phase extraction, and vapor extraction. Newport News Shipbuilding

currently exists as one of the world’s largest ship building facilities.

• Site Characterization and Remediation, IR International, Richmond, Virginia: Project manager

responsible for implementation of a field investigation program on an industrial site with a history of

contaminant releases of different types (solvents, heavy metals, petroleum, and PCBs). Coordinated

and interfaced with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality 9VDEQ) in efforts to

successfully obtain a Satisfactory Certificate of Completion from the Voluntary Remediation Program

(VRP). Performed routine monitoring of two leaking USTs and assisted with operation, maintenance,

and evaluation of free product recovery systems..

Environmental Compliance, Planning, and Permitting Projects

• MS4 Permitting and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Federal Correctional Complex

(FCC), Hopewell, Virginia: Project manager responsible for coordinating and developing an MS4

Program Plan for the FCC facility to address effective requirements of the Virginia Administrative

Code (4 VAC 50-60). A SWPPP was also prepared as part of the program plan for the facility.

• Manage air, water, and hazardous waste permits, Various Sites, Virginia: Project manager responsible

for maintaining existing permits in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.

Coordinate annual audits, inspections, and environmental investigations for the facility and

subsequently report findings to state regulators.

Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I and Phase II ESAs)

• Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Various Sites, Virginia, Washington DC, and

Maryland: Conducted Phase I and Phase II Site Assessments for over fifty sites within the Coastal

Plain and Piedmont Physiographic Provinces of Virginia. Sites include raw land, industrial facilities,

commercial facilities, and agricultural facilities of various types.

• UST Removals and Phase II Environmental Sampling, Various Sites, Virginia: Supervised removal of

leaking USTs associated with various industrial and commercial processes in Coastal Plain and

Piedmont Physiographic Provinces of Virginia. Performed necessary sampling and laboratory analysis

to meet VDEQ requirements and assess excavated soils for disposal considerations.

Environmental Assessment and Environmental Impact Review (NEPA)

• NEPA Environmental Assessment, Canoe Run Park, Fire Station #17, Richmond, Virginia: Project

Manager responsible for assessing impacts associated with the construction of a new fire station

within the City of Richmond Canoe Run Park. Coordinated all regulatory interactions and

negotiating.

Asbestos and Lead-Based Paint Surveys

• Hazardous Materials Survey, Various Sites, Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland: Project

Manager responsible for asbestos and lead-based paint inspection, evaluation of PCBs in light ballasts,

and mercury in light bulbs in the interior and exterior of structures proposed for renovation and

demolition.
