ADDENDUM: Specific international experience
1. Central Point Software - I built relationships with technology partners
in the South of England, where we bought special software components from
them. It involved traveling to their town and engaging in business
discussions with the owners, while an architect from our team worked with
their developers to ascertain the viability of the products.
2. Voxware - Because of my participation in standards bodies and because we
had a sales office in the UK with I frequently worked, I helped build
alliances between France Telecom and Voxware. Specifically, I encountered
them, introduced the company, presented the product and its value
propositions, and began working through the regulatory hurdles to allow
TeleVox (Voxware's product) to be remarketed under the telephone company's
brand. Further, I spent much time with British Telecom in their offices in
southern London discussing business strategies for the two companies.
Finally, I toured several towns in Britain meeting with small game
development companies who were interested in Voxware's products for real-
time voice chat.
3. ITXC - I sought out business partners for telephony gateways, and found
them in a company called VocalTec. During the course of the time with them,
I traveled to Herzliya and several other cities in Israel to do business
with their development and business teams. Also while there I spent time
building alliances with other companies involved in telephony products.
These companies also came to visit me in the U.S. as our deals progressed.
I also met with companies around the world in Hawaii for business
development and interoperability summits.
