PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
ASRC Federal / NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD 06/14-08/14
Summer Intern
Supported the Chief Patent Counsel in handling copyright issues that occur within NASA. This includes
copyright infringement, fair use, technical data rights, open source software and general software releases.
Provided support to Electrical Engineers by documenting electrical hardware for the James Webb Space
Telescope, creating specifications for the Space Mezzanine, and creating Python Software programming
language to be used in the development of a mobile app for engineering labs.
Key Achievements
• Prepared a legal memorandum for the Chief Patent Counsel to help him decide what legal advice
should be given to a NASA employee concerning a copyright law issue.
• Effectively documented each development unit for the James Webb Space Telescope command and
control hardware that is used as a reference point by all engineers on the project in case something
goes wrong.
• Reviewed Open Source License Agreements
Environmental and Earth Law Clinic (EEL), Orlando, FL 01/14-04/ 14
EEL Clinic Student
Researched and resolved environmental law issues for clients located in the Orlando community. Performed
legal research and writing via Westlaw and LexisNexis database. Developed stronger oral communication
skills through public speaking. Worked in a group capacity to successfully finish assigned projects. Used
innovative and creative skills to attack projects assigned. Focused on alternative dispute resolution and
negotiation skills.
Key Achievements
• Provided residents with multiple strategies to resolve concerns about the overflow of traffic such as
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), contacting the city directly, or filing suit. As a result of the
strategies I provided to residents, the Mayor has taken efforts to limit the traffic on their residential
street.
• Drafted public records requests for Kissimmee Valley Audubon Society (KVAS), which they used to
determine whether the construction of a college campus on an environmentally protected park could
take place.
• Drafted a public records request for KVAS, which they used to determine whether the county used the
term “scrivener errors” as a basis to change a local zoning ordinance. The public records request
would demonstrate whether the county was acting within its proper scope of authority.
• Drafted a legal statement for the League of Women Voters of Florida (League) that was used to
create open negotiations between the League and the Trustees of the Natural Resource Damage
Assessment (NRDA) concerning the Florida Fish Hatchery Project. Presented my work on the NRDA
legal statement at the League of Women Voters of Florida legislative summit. This statement was
used by the League, which ultimately led to an open dialogue being created between the League and
the Trustees.
