SKILLS SUMMARY
BSME and MBA educated engineering professional with extensive management
experience and knowledge of complex precision and rotating mechanisms
design, stress and thermal analysis through traditional and software based
analysis (e.g. finite element analysis), electronics, and manufacturing
technology. Experience includes full responsibility for projects from
inception through manufacture and beyond (customer service, warranty
claims). Exceptional record of innovation and on-time on-budget project
delivery.
Management
Director of Engineering in charge of 30 man engineering team with full
budget and hiring authority. Responsible for projects from concept through
manufacture.
Managed teams that won three national awards. Two top place finishes for
engineering and design excellence. One for the GoingGreen Top 100
competition - awarded for game changing technology and market traction.
Led engineering team design efforts of a small startup company, Renaissance
Lighting that led to its recognition by The Wall Street as a technological
leader in solid state lighting.
Served as interim manager of manufacturing and quality control for 150 man
division.
Largely responsible for increasing the profitability of Stanley's
Industrial hardware division by 200% in two years and returning the
Casablanca Fan Company to profitability after five years of consecutive
losses and designed strategy that led to its profitable acquisition.
100% record of on-time on-budget project delivery.
Engineering
Experienced in solid state and traditional lighting, consumer products
(appliances), engine design, and naval advanced information design systems.
Worked in Navistar International's Advanced Design Division. A "black box"
department nationally recognized for innovative and advanced engineering
design.
Eight patents were received through the course of my work, six for
individual efforts. These patents were responsible for 7% of my division's
net profits (Stanley - Appliance products). Two patents in LED lighting
design.
Designed computer program that reduced camshaft design time from 1 month to
4 days.
Developed powder metal technology that allowed powdered metals to be used
in a diesel engine environment.
Written reference by a division President of The Stanley Works calling me
"by far the most exceptional Product Design Engineer we have had in our
organization". (reference available upon request).Experienced in multiple
computer aided design systems (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Pro E./Wildfire,
CADkey, and CADAM).
Designed, fabricated, modified, and evaluated complex mechanical,
electromechanical, and electrical devices and systems.
Experienced with wide variety of materials and material forming techniques
including high volume precision machining, sheet metal, casting (die, sand,
centrifugal), plastic injection molding, and powdered metals.
Product Management/Marketing
Worked in product management in addition to engineering. Evaluated
competitor's products and my company's product positioning (price, quality,
features, etc.), identified market and new product opportunities, created
launch strategies, gave sales presentations, created promotional materials,
and designed marketing strategies. These efforts were largely credited
with turning the Industrial Hardware Division of the Stanley Works from a
marginally profitable division to the most profitable in the company.
Developed Strategy that led to the Casablanca Fan Company's profitable
acquisition.
