Project: HP Virtual Connect (DVT- Automation)

Duration: 3 years

Role: Project coordinator / Specialist

Description:

The project was to automate the Virtual Connect (VC) test cases using the PERL framework. This

involves creation and maintenance of large set of libraries, scripts to support the various features

supported by VC. This project includes test plan, test case design, test execution, test case automation,

system test setup, and status reporting and maintenance activities.

Hardware: This project requires Virtual Connect network and fibre channel switches, blade system

Enclosures, blade servers, storage array, network and fibre channel switches

Software: This project requires Quality Center, Perl, Cygwin, Subversion, Microsoft Windows server

2003/2008, Linux, VMWare ESX server

Responsibilities:

• Reviewing of new features developed for Virtual Connect like IPv6, FIPS, Direct attached FC,

40G etc. and do the impact analysis of this to the framework and changes required in terms of

infrastructure.

• Plan, design, review and implement the support for the features and co-ordinate with offshore to

get these integrated within the release timeframe.

• Understanding the impact of new hardware supported like Gen9 servers, 40G switches, 3-PAR

array, Mezz cards and plan to integrate them to the framework.

• Gather information on the current performance by analysing the logs and propose/implement

design changes for performance improvements for future releases.

• Conduct retrospective meetings to analyse the release and propose changes to be made for

future releases.

• Setup, configure and maintain the c-Class infrastructure and various support services like LDAP

server, DHCP server, SNMP services, FTP services etc. Co-ordinate hardware configuration

requested by offshore team.

• Plan, execute and co-ordinate regression run for various Virtual Connect, SPP (Service Pack for

Proliant) and VCSU (Virtual Connect Support Utility) releases. Maintain the framework in a

central repository.

• Virtual Connect field issue analysis, problem simulation in lab environment and resolving field

issues. Analyse and log bugs and track the bugs to closure.

• Simulate end customer issues in lab environment for providing quick workaround or solution to

the problem.

• Co-coordinating between the customer and offshore test script development team.

Project: HP Virtual Connect DVT

Description:

Virtual Connect is a set of interconnect modules and embedded software for blade server enclosures that

simplifies the setup and administration of server connections. Virtual Connect simplifies the job of a server

administrator such that servers can be upgraded, replaced, or even moved within the enclosure without

changes being visible to the external LAN and SAN environments

Responsibilities:

Worked as lead for new feature testing. Involved in assigning, tracking, reviewing of test cases.

I am involved in test plan and test case design for new features and enhancements in Virtual Connect

Manager. My responsibilities include test plan and test case review, test setup, test case execution, defect

logging, defect verification and daily/weekly status reporting activities.

Project: HP Neoview System testing and Build qualification

Duration: 3 years

Role: Team Lead and Test Specialist

Description: Neoview is HP's Dataware house platform.

Responsibilities:

My responsibilities included Team management, Release planning and tracking, Resource and system

planning, Customer interaction, Process compliance, Driving software quality initiatives, Root Cause

analysis, Competency assessment and building, Weekly review and status reporting. System testing

activities included Overall component integration, Longevity at the system level, Stress testing, System

limits testing, System Installation and Migration, Fault injection at the system level, Usage and integration

with non-NEO components,Manageability & user-level testing from a holistic view. People

Management included performance appraisals, training, and people aspirations. Project Management

Activities included status reporting, scheduling, discussions with senior management team, efforts

estimation, test matrix preparation on various activities etc.

My responsibilities also included testing the weekly Neoview builds and sending the report to the Neoview

world. Based on this report all other teams would take a call if they can go ahead with their activities .My

responsibilities include test plan and test case review, test setup, test case execution, defect logging,

defect verification and daily/weekly status reporting activities

Project: HP Neoview – SQL/MX

Duration: 3 months

Role: Project Lead

Description: This project involved testing of SQL product components on Non-Stop platform for Neoview,

HP’s data warehousing solution. This involves testing of SQL and ODBC components of the non-stop

database. Main focus is to test the regression feature testing for various releases of Neoview for the SQL

compiler, executor and utilities. Also, involves the localization testing with different character sets.

Responsibilities:

As the Project Lead for the 5 member testing team involved in functional and regression testing. My key

Activities include customer interfacing, co-ordination with onsite team, release planning, resource

planning and Recruitment, transition planning, assigning and tracking of tasks to the team and people

management activities.

Project: NSK OSM system testing (GUI)

Duration: 3 Years

Role: Test Engineer

Description:

OSM (Open System Management) which is a Internet explorer based tool for the system management for

the Non-Stop Tandem systems. These systems are fault tolerant systems used in stock markets, financial

institutions etc. where a every single transaction is important

Responsibilities:

Involved and included in the following activities: Maintenance, enhancement and testing of the OSM

product on legacy & Itanium based HP servers. Primary activities were system testing and development

of Test Plan, Test Cases, and Test Procedure for various modules in OSM. Test design reviews, Release

planning and Look Ahead Meetings of OSM. Co-ordination between the onshore and offshore team was

the most critical activity handled by me. Took up the role of onsite project engineer. This involved study

and understanding of the new hardware components, preparation of test strategy and scenarios for

testing, in depth testing of each feature of every hardware component. This was an independent and a

time critical activity. Later on worked as a Module Lead in the same project at offshore. As the module

lead, I was responsible for coordinating the product release from offshore. This included preparation of

release plan, distribution and assignment of task to team members and tracking their activities. This also

involved interaction with development team and gathering details used towards quality assurance of the

product.
