• Operations Division – Responsible for the communication and program integration between the
Loss Prevention Division and the Wal-Mart Stores Operations Group. Their responsibilities
would include Loss Prevention input on corporate initiatives, program development and
implementation, and support of field and home office Loss Prevention associates.
• Training and Development Division – Responsible for corporate training related to Risk Control
(Safety) and Loss Prevention. Their duties included content development, class facilitation,
industry benchmarking, as well as corporate training initiative integration.
• Merchandise Development – Responsible for the integration of Anti-Theft and Risk Control
merchandising initiatives within the various buying departments of the company. These
initiatives would include restrictive fixtures, anti-theft packaging, Electronic Article Surveillance,
shipping and receiving issues, and vendor UPC issues.
• Investigations Division – Responsible for the initiation and investigation of major internal and
external theft cases. This group is responsible for buyer / vendor investigations, officer level
investigations, internal loss prevention investigations, large home office / field level
investigations, as well as investigative resource development.
• Specialty Group Loss Prevention Division - Responsible for Loss Prevention and Risk Control
initiatives in the Specialty Group Operations Division which included the Pharmacy Division,
Shoes and Jewelry Division, Tire Lube Express Division, Photo Division, and the New Business
Venture Group. Some specific activities or responsibilities were pharmacy diversion
investigations, category high loss audits, vendor shrinkage awareness, regulatory compliance, and
new business venture policy development.
