Service Repair Management
. My first duty station was in Okinawa, Japan with 7th Comm., Data Comm.
Platoon. Being that we were a deployable unit, we trained constantly
to insure that are skills were up to par. I was given a Secret
Security Clearance because of work performed on Crypto gear and SIPR
net networks.
. We would setup Networks that consisted of Cisco Routers, Banyan Vines
and later NT 4.0 servers with exchange 5.5, and all D.O.S. Windows
3.1, Windows 3.11, and Windows 95 workstations. Once everything was
checked and given a passing inspection, the Network was torn down and
later rebuilt with different team members.
. As a Corporal, I also helped in the migration on all the servers from
Banyan Vines to NT 4.0 and Exchange 5.5. I was also in charge of
other Marines during the upgrade on all workstations from D.O.S. 6.22
to Windows 95 and the installation of Office 95 and Lotus Notes.
. While stationed with 7th Comm. I had the privilege to deploy to Korea
for a month for field exercises and provide the same Networking and
computer repair services that we had trained so hard for.
. While stationed at my second duty station M.C.L.B., Albany, I was
automatically assigned to the Networking Section S6 in building 3500
skipping the Repair Section due to knowledge obtained while stationed
in Japan. Went through second migration from Banyan Vines to Win NT
4.0 server and migration of the workstations.

up and maintaining the Defense Messaging System Network. This Network
was NT 4.0 and UNIX (HP Open view) based. This network was for
sending and receiving encrypted e-mails using encryption hardware,
encryption software, and restricted access to hardware, software, and
files. I spent my final months as a Marine assigned to this project.
. As a Sergeant assigned to the S6 networking team my duties included
but were not limited to backups, mainframe administration,
maintenance, and updating, network monitoring, violations, and
repairs, SMS server administration and support, customer service and
