PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Stevens Institute of Technology Solar Decathlon, Hoboken, NJ
Process Intern August 2014-
December 2014
• Modeled and built a renewable liquid desiccant system that runs on solar energy that was patented in the summer
of 2014
• Simulated various project designs using ASPEN PLUS by modeling rate-based absorption columns, heat
exchangers, and evaporative coolers that were able to simulate the dehumidification of air by the use of a salt
solution (Calcium Chloride)
• Built an absorption column that simulates the absorption of the moisture in air with liquid desiccant
• Worked with calculated results to effectively test the system by building prototypes for further experimental data
• Coupled the desiccant system with an energy recovery ventilator to improve the cooling and dehumidification
efficiencies
• Presented system and sponsored by AILR and trans-solar to use regenerative technologies to improve desiccant
efficiency
• Increased dehumidification performance of system by adding an ERV and coupled with the HVAC for better
performance
• Modeled and tested energy efficient heat exchangers that were used as a regenerative process for the salt solution
Environmental Protection Agency, Edison, NJ
Project and Safety Intern June 2014-August
2014
• Analyzed Polychlorinated biphenyl exposures (PCB) in schools of NJ and NY using samples and developed a
grouping method to link and find a common cause to these exposures and predict future incidents for student
safety
• Observed residential chemical toxic substance exposures in NY and NJ and determined the type of chemicals that
were exposed to the citizens based on illness effects, data samples, and their complaints to protect civilians from
further incidents
• Analyzed pesticide spray equipment to improve equipment designs that limited spray drift incidents for home
protection
• Determined if cases occurring due to pesticide poisoning were as a result of landscaping, agricultural use, or field
use, which aided the team to target specific geographical areas for likeliness of future pesticide poisonings
Stevens Institute of Technology Solar Decathlon, Hoboken, NJ
Renewable Energy Research and Design Intern January 2014-August
2014
• Led an interdisciplinary engineering team to effectively research and design a newly innovative liquid desiccant
system that was responsible for cooling and dehumidifying a residential, energy-efficient home
• Examined and selected mechanical and electrical equipment such as sensors, valves, pumps, and flow controllers
for the system; researched proper materials that can handle the corrosion of the liquid desiccant (Calcium
Chloride)
• Used ASPEN Energy and Economic analyzers for various designs and chose an optimum cost effective and
efficient model
• Used Separation Operation techniques to determine the height of the desiccant column and the packing
efficiencies
• Released documented work with test results and am currently awaiting a publication
Bayonne City Council Campaign, Bayonne, NJ
Campaign Supervisor Fall 2011-2012,
Summer 2013
• Managed communicating with the Senator of New Jersey (Bob Menendez) and other political figures regarding
minimum wage campaigns and various election campaigns
• Delegated with teams to distribute various campaign materials and communicate with local residents
DESIGN EXPERIENCE
Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ
Chemical Engineering Plant Design Spring 2014-Fall 2014
• Modeled various chemical plant designs with ASPEN Plus simulation software (Ethanol, Cyclohexane, plants)
• Created and designed a large scale biodiesel production plant using modeling programs and evaluating cost
analysis
Design of a Plating Tank System Spring 2013
• Modeled several designs and calculated the time it would take the tank’s reaction to occur using Simulink in
MATLAB
