software for a new logistics project installing an EXE Warehouse
software package purchased by Kmart in 1998. This project
required tuning the database for the number of users and 14 sites
each with their own hardware / software running on HP server and
a EMC disk array system.
Over the years we have upgraded the hardware and Informix
database software to where we are at today Informix 9.40.
After the merger of KMart and Sears I joined the Sears Informix
DBA team to also support their Informix databases. Sears has
over a hundred servers and hundreds of instances of Informix
database software all types of versions.
As a member of the Informix support team I carried a pager/cell
phone for after hour support
I provided design advice to the development teams at Sears.
We added system resources to the Informix database instances as
needed.
Did requirements planning and implemented databases changes as
needed
Cross trained with the Informix DBA group
I installed BMC patrol for Informix at the WMS warehouses system
Worked with Sears Management to design an overall support
