2013 – 2014 Director, Systems Requirements & Analytics

Expanded scope of Agile adoption begun in previous position to further the development of cross-
functional teams. Focused on developing a core group of Scrum-trained business analysts to assist product
owners in transitioning from document heavy, up front requirements to a story-based, collaborative model.
Key Contributions:
• Approached transition toward Agility in bite size, easy to swallow chunks to reduce
resistance to change.
• Started program to train product owners learn to develop effective user stories, maintain
healthy backlogs and plan releases.
• Continued coaching development team on Agile principles with heavy emphasis on

2009 – 2013 Director of Applications Development

Grew a development team, initially composed of 6 developers of varying skillsets, to a team of 30
members with expertise in .NET application development, database administration and development, UX
development, reporting and business intelligence and technical business analysis. Recognized that, despite
that fact we were writing great software, it was not meeting the needs of the business in a timely manner.
Launched effort to introduce Agile principles to our development approach.
Key Contributions:
• Worked with business leaders to identify optimal candidate projects for scrum pilot.
• Engaged with consulting firm to provide initial, onsite ScrumMaster training to
development staff.
• Served as initial ScrumMaster on each of the first 3 projects undertaken using Agile
principles.
• Continued coaching ScrumMasters and team members as they began to self-organize.
• Addressed numerous points of resistance (both within my staff and within the business)
to the adoption of Scrum. These included:
o “Well, that won’t work for us.”
o “That’s fine if you want to do Agile but I still need a detailed project plan.”
o “We can’t start the application code until we have a solid architectural
foundation.”
• Evolved interviewing process to ensure that new hire developers were “Agile Friendly”.
• Promoted team member development and retention. Focused on skills advancement
through company sponsored training and technical conferences, mentoring of junior team members,
and providing opportunities for career advancement. Special focus was given to maintaining a
sustainable development pace to ensure quality of life.

• Fleet Management System. Multi-year project that facilitated all aspects of managing a
heavy construction equipment fleet with more than 33,000 assets. Integrated with online parts
catalogs of 2 major manufacturers (Caterpillar and Komatsu) and provided functionality including:
o Work Request and Work Order submission and tracking
o Maintenance Scheduling
o Predictive Maintenance Notifications
o Warranty Tracking
o Parts Management

o Cost Analytics
• Demand Forecasting System. Supported production rate decision making for
Oldcastle’s major lines of business (Asphalt, Concrete and Aggregates). Contained functionality
for each line of business to analyze historical production rates against current sales indicators and
allowed operations managers to create “what if” scenarios. Included algorithms to adjust for
unseasonable weather and major economic events that would otherwise skew data.
• Sales Quote System. Multi-year project that provided Oldcastle’s sales force the ability
to produce price quotes with up-to-date and accurate pricing information. Integrated with 7
different point-of-sale systems used across the different Oldcastle operating companies. Converted
quotes into invoices within AP module of ERP upon completion of sales. Integrated with customer
data stored in SalesForce.com. Provided mobile access through iPad app.
• Safety Incident Management System. Enabled reporting and management of safety
incidents and near miss incidents. Integrated with Oldcastle’s insurance carrier, Liberty Mutual.
• Infield. Allowed for management of time and attendance reporting and processing for
over 18,000 hourly employees. Integrated with payroll module of ERP.
2008 – 2009 Application Architect

Provided technical leadership and mentoring to development team and junior architects, guided team
through migration to a service-oriented architecture for our suite of custom-built business applications.
Key Contributions:
• Initiated incremental refactoring of a large collection of siloed applications.
• Introduced enterprise-level services, including authentication and authorization based
upon Active Directory, ERP hosted data access, common business organization hierarchy hosted in
Hyperion and application exception logging and notification.
• Collaborated with LAN team to produce virtualized server topology to support enterprise
information systems.
• Established reference architectures as basis of custom application environment based
upon Microsoft stack of technologies (ASP.NET, IIS and SQL Server).

Provided full-range of consulting services, acted as analyst, developer, designer, architect, project manager
and instructor for various clients.
Key Contributions:
• Led K2/SharePoint Portal implementation and workflow for Unisource, gathered and
analyzed requirements for corporate intranet and then documented generation solutions. Managed
team of five developers.
• Oversaw SharePoint 2007 Portal implementation for RockTenn, implemented solution
for corporate portal and migrated legacy content from SharePoint 2001.

oversaw IT projects and leading teams to ensure client profitability.

• Oversaw joint venture project for Microsoft and Wachovia’s Technology Architecture
Board to determine viability of using SharePoint to automate business process workflows.
Managed client engagement and requirements analysis, and developed code base.
• Led Ernst and Young WebGEMS Balance Sheet project, which provided a tool for
determining and managing compensation for expatriate employees. Managed resource scheduling

Broadcasting general ledger system; additionally coordinated with capture service providers for the
four major credit cards.
• Managed team of two developers in creating SharePoint Employee Portal
implementation for The Borgata Casino, built self-service access to tax forms, benefits and pay
stubs.
• Managed requirements gathering and implementation for Atlanta Gas Light Resources’
Marketers’ New Application System.
