GONGTAO (ELVIN) LIU *******.***@****.********.** 416-***-****
Tutor, U of T 2012-2014
Tutored several engineering courses and helped the student to increase of the term GPA from 1.6 to 3.3
VP Internal, SPARK, U of T 2011-2012
Conducted consulting work cross functionally with industrial engineering, actuarial, economics and
finance students on modeling of demand and supply forecast by using R (in charge) and Excel for one of
the largest fruit and vegetable retailer s in Ontario as the pioneer project for the new startup SPARK club;
the work was satisfying and we consequently received a recommendation letter form the client
Held the discussion sections within the executive group and the presentation sections in front of the
client
Recruitment Officer, Material Advantage Chapter at U of T 2010-2011
Recruited 20 more members to Material Advantage by holding orientations and campus advertisement
Led student members to professional materials seminars monthly or bi-monthly held in private clubs
Liaised with professors, students and organizers from other groups to increase the impact of the Chapter
Logistics Director, U of T Engineering Chinese Club 2009-2010
Designed and decided the goal of yearly achievement for the club
Created and monitored monthly club events, scheduled executive meetings and assigned weekly booths
GRADUATE RESEARCH PROJECTS
Cellular Hybrid Materials Research Group ( Aerospace Application, Supervisor: Prof. Glenn Hibbard)
2012-2014
Projects Included:
Nano-nickel Electrodeposition Modeling (in 2D and 3D) and Process Optimization
Edge Effect Study of 3D Printed Polymer Micro-trusses, Truss Confinement System Development,
Mechanical Properties Testing ( Including Test Methods and Gauges Validation) and Failure Analysis
Nano-nickel Coating Characterization by X-ray Tomography
UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Anti-reflection Nano Texturization of Single Crystalline Silicon for Solar Cells 2011-2012
Successfully developed a series of processes, through prototype designing, practical experiment,
continuous problem solving and improvement, to fabricate nano-scale (400-1500nm in length) inverted
pyramid texture on Si wafer by applying PECVD, EBL, RIE and chemical etching; the texture reduced
solar reflection by 30-60% from non-texturized sample.
Analysis on Magnetic properties and Internal Properties for Nano Electrodeposited Nickel and Nickel-
Iron Soft Magnetic Materials 2010 Summer
Analyzed orientation indices, grain sizes and microstrain for Ni-Fe electrodeposited materials by using
XRD
