1. Single Phase Digital Electronic Energy Meter.

An electric meter or energy meter is a device that measures the amount of electrical energy

consumed by a residence, business, or an electrically powered device. Electric meters are typically

calibrated in billing units, the most common one being the kilowatt hour.

Electricity meters operate by continuously measuring the instantaneous voltage (volts) and

current (amperes) and finding the product of these to give instantaneous electrical power (watts)

which is then integrated against time to give energy used (joules, kilowatt-hours etc.). Electronic

meters display the energy used on an LCD or LED display, and can also transmit readings to remote

places. In addition to measuring energy used, electronic meters can also record other parameters of

the load and supply such as maximum demand, power factor and reactive power used etc. They can

also support time-of-day billing.

In our project, we use MSP430-FE425 microcontroller. By this only we can operate and

control the meter. The microcontroller used is operated under small voltage. Hence a voltage of 3.3

volts is supplied to microcontroller using Capacitive based power supply.

The main aim of our project is to provide good accuracy of meter reading and good securit y

from different types of tampering. The advantages of this meter are, accuracy is less than +/-1%,

provides clear and accurate billing. Also we can detect various types of tampers such as magnetic

tamper, earth tamper, and current reversal, cover open etc. and take appropriate actions depending on

the tampering.

3. Image Encryption and Decryption Using Symmetric Key Sequence of Elliptic Curve Over

Prime Field

Elliptic curve cryptography is one of the emerging and most popular public key

cryptographic approach, which is based on the algebraic structure of elliptic curve. In our project a

new algorithm for image encryption and decryption using key symmetric sequence of elliptic curve

points over prime field is proposed. The proposed algorithm has been tested on different sets of

grayscale images. Performance of the proposed scheme is analyzed using parameters such as

histogram, correlation, MSE (Mean Square Error), entropy. It indicates proposed scheme is immune

to statistical attack. Performance of propose scheme for all the different image cases fairly same and

algorithm is independent of image chosen.
