– Worked with a team of 5 students to develop an autonomous, field-ready behavioral data collection unit and

associated documentation as part of NSF RUI grant “The Evolvability of Social Networks”

– Worked independently to design, implement, document and test software and workflow responsible for

organizing metadata-rich surveillance data, learned needed coding skills on-the-job

– Led project to apply heritability and population genetic structure measures to gut microbial communities,

collaborating with community sequencing specialist Prof. Martin Wu (UVA)

Research Assistant under R.F. Pasternack May 2012 – August 2013

– Developed new in-vitro chemical models of hemozoin formation, a biocrystallization process crucial to the

survival of malaria parasites, and evaluated them using UV-Vis and CD spectrophotometry

– Helped train a team of two other undergraduates and worked with them to design a research programme to

experimentally validate theoretical mathematical models

Personal Interests

Strength Coach (2012-present) I teach new weightlifters the basics of safe, efficient movement and work to create a

safe gym environment for people of all genders. We focus on the potential of olypmic weightlifting and powerlifting for

meditation, self-expression, and self-exploration. We have coached two state record-holders so far.
