Description:

The project which I have been working in is based on Data Warehousing concepts. Mainly worked on Informatica

Powercenter tool to create ETL's to transform the data and implemented data warehousing business logics through ETL's.

The main purpose was to extract data from legacy sources and transform the data to the required format by

implementing business rules and stage it in Oracle and SQL Server DB. On top of this, data reports are built which are

reviewed by the business at higher level.

As our client has been formed with acquiring many small scale companies, it formed a single organization with multiple

source inputs from different servers, databases and files.

This exposed to handle different kinds of source data and acknowledge the tool feasibility for such raw and unprepared

data. This in turn has been reformed/cleansed to meet business requirements and will be flown in to the Reporting side.

Responsibilities:

My involvement in this project revolved around development, enhancements and Production support.

Coding for new Business requirements and Work Requests by designing mapping as per the ETL Specification.

Work with Team Lead and Development team for analysis, design, development and implementation of project

named TIMESTAR (The project was based on the Relationship between Hanes and Walmart).

End to end creation of mappings and workflows involving the sources from Flat files, Excels, SAP, Oracle and Sql

server with the inclusion of all the transformations and the execution of the workflows with Relevant

parameterization as per the requirement.

The SQL overrides in Source Qualifier and Look ups, Partitioning, Usage of Source Qualifier and Joiner etc. were

done as a part of performance tuning measure.

Parameterization and dynamic generation of parameter files from param table.

Also had done importing of tables from Sql Server, Excels and Oracle DB by creating ODBC connect strings and

handled flat file sources too.

Create various Transformations like Source Qualifier, Union, Update Strategy, Joiner, Aggregator, Expression,

The testing phase involved the preparation of the test cases and the relevant validations regarding the data

integrity and the data Quality.

In Production support I need to check the failed job, analyze the cause of failure and fix it accordingly. We used

Autosys as a scheduling tool.

mappings from old systems AS-IS to new system. The current number of folders by environment is Dev -65 QA- 50 Prod-

46. Out of these approximately 2500 workflows from 50 folders are considered for the upgrade activity. [46 folders of

Prod and 4 folders of QA].Apart from this the three environments (development, Test & Production) are to be

created/upgraded.

Responsibilities:

My involvement in this project revolved around development and coding changes, testing and documentation.

We need to run the migrated workflows in 9.5Dev environment and if any failure comes we need to analyze the

issue and fix it.

Compare the counts in SQL server and Oracle for Critical workflows.

We are preparing a POC (Proof of Concept) for Crime and Criminal Transactions and Service (CCTNS), a Indian

Government authority. There are 2 source systems i.e. My SQL and second is Sql Server from where the criminal data of

35 states is coming, half of the data is going in SQL Server and half in My Sql. They are using Sybase ETL tool for loading

the data into Sybase IQ i.e. the target database which is on solarise operating system. Due to Performance issue and

complex queries issue Sybase ETL has been replaced with Informatica PoweCenter.

CCTNS POC was aimed at establishing connectivity from Informatica to read from MY SQL AND MS SQL and write into

SYBASE IQ. It included creation of DSN, connection objects, creating tables in My SQL and MS SQL source Databases,

target table creation in Sybase (Simulated business case tables of customer which contained Crime data) and loading

data using informatica workflows.

Responsibilities:

Gathering Requirements.

Coding for new Business requirements and Work Requests by designing mapping as per the ETL Specification.
