11/2012 to 3/2014 Mechanical Designer / Drafter - Avedro Inc.
Waltham, MA
As a Mechanical Designer / Drafter at Avedro, I was
responsible for the design, documentation
and often the assembly of mechanical parts,
assemblies, jigs and fixtures for tooling and
assembly. The tools and fixtures were assembly aids
used on Avedro's line of Lasik Equipment. Light
fabrication, machining and assembly of fixtures and
parts was also performed. Standard file and vault
management using PDM, ECO's ECN's were all part of
the daily activities.
5/2011 to 2/2012 Mechanical Designer - Smith and Nephew -
Andover, MA
My main duties as a Mechanical Designer at Smith and
Nephew is the design and documentation
of mechanical parts, assemblies, jigs and fixtures
relating to a handheld medical device used in
intrauterine surgery. Also, detailing of parts for
machining, material selection and fixture assembly
instruction is also done. Other responsibilities include producing images
for instructions for use
and converting and editing artwork files for use in
Solidworks. Light fabrication, machining and
assembly of fixtures and parts was also performed.
3/2010 to 6/2010 Mechanical Designer - GT Solar - Merrimack,
NH
Working as a Mechanical Designer at GT Solar, my
responsibilities were the design of parts and
assemblies for use in furnaces that produce silicon
for solar panels. Also required of me was the design
of fixtures. The fixtures consisted of parts used to
handle materials, move materials to the assembly area
and the ergonomic assembly of components for the
furnaces. Some other responsibilities are the
creation of work instructions and manufacturing
procedures for fixtures and related parts.
4/2008 to 4/2009 Mechanical Designer/Drafter - NP Medical
- Clinton, MA
As a Designer/Drafter at NP Medical, my
responsibilities included detailing parts and
assemblies for valves and related parts used in the
medical industry. Fixtures and testing equipment was
also designed for the automation of valves and
components. Also creation of 3D models from 2D
drawings and some 3D modeling of conceptual parts and
assemblies were also done. Design and detailing of
fixtures for testing procedures is also performed.
File and data base management was done on a routine
basis.
6/2007 to 4/2008 Mechanical Designer/Detailer - QC Solutions -
Billerica, MA
My primary duties consisted of designing parts and
assemblies for use on metrology equipment in the semi-
conductor industry. Also the design of conceptual
wafer handling equipment was performed. Other tasks
include detailing and dimensioning of sheet metal,
mechanical parts and assemblies, creating and
completing ECO's, BOM creation, file management using
PDM Works and maintaining a part number database.
Great Plains is also used to control parts and
assemblies for manufacturing. All design and
detailing is done using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD
2000.
6/2004 to 6/20/07 Mechanical Designer/Detailer - ACMI -
Southborough, MA
My primary duties were the design of hand held
medical devices for the Urology industry. I was also
responsible for the creation of detail drawings, sub-
assemblies and top level assemblies of mechanical
parts. All design and detailing was done using
SolidWorks. PDM Works was utilized for file
management.
11/2003 to 1/2004 Mechanical Designer/Drafter - PVD Products,
Wilmington, MA
My main responsibilities at PVD Products was the
detailing of mechanical parts for use in
Vapor Deposition equipment. Some light design was
done also. All design and detailing was done in
Solidworks 2004. I was employed as a temp.
9/2002 to 10/15/03 Mechanical Designer - PTC Fastening Inc.,
Nashua, NH
As a Mechanical Designer at PTC, I am responsible
for the design and documentation of
concrete drill cart frames, drill power unit frames,
sheet metal enclosures and any other part or assembly
that needs to be designed in Solidworks. Some other
duties consist of maintaining a drawing, hardware and
commercial part database. Also required of me is the
actual fabrication of the equipment. All of PTC's
equipment is specifically designed for the railroad
industry.
6/2001 to 5/2002 Mechanical Designer - kSARIA Corporation,
Wilmington, MA
My primary duty as a Mechanical Designer was the
support of the Engineering group on
KSARIA's product line of fiber optic automation
equipment. Some design of sheet metal and machine
parts was required. Included in my duties were the
creation, implementation and completion of ECO'S and
maintaining a hardware database for Solidworks
Feature Pallet. The creation of Solidworks Modeling
standards for the engineering group to follow was
also created.
11/99 to 4/2001 Mechanical Designer - Virtek Vision, Woburn,
Ma
As a Mechanical Designer at Virtek, I was responsible
for the design of optical mounts, lens mounts, mirror
mounts and assorted jigs and fixtures to assemble
optical components. Also design was done on sheet
metal and plastic parts relating to Virtek's device,
a Laser Scanning Microscope. Some of my other tasks
included the creation of 3D assembly models and
drawings in AutoCAD and Solidworks, detail part
drawings, conversion of Pro-E models to Solidworks
and for use in AutoCAD. My formal Solidworks training
started here.
8/99 to 11/99 Mechanical Designer - GT Equipment Technology,
Nashua, NH
My main duties as a Mechanical Designer were to work
closely with the head engineer
on various design projects for a prototype machine
used to melt and mold glass for lenses
in HUDs. Also documentation of the project using
AutoCAD R13 was performed upon completion.

AutoCAD R14. Some design was also done on their
products - hair and tattoo removal lasers. Design of
