UNITED STATES NAVY- Lieutenant Commander 2000 to 2014
UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY (USNA), Annapolis, MD: 2008 – 2014
Master Instructor and Coordinator USNA Polar Science Program
Developed the mulit-disciplinary USNA Polar Science Program, securing funding from the Office of Naval
Research and led 5 student expeditions to the Arctic. Effectively managed the systems engineering of four
remote Arctic Observing Platforms. These sensors reported atmospheric and oceanographic measurements
from the data sparse Arctic Ocean.
Led the first ever Naval Academy Ice Experiment (NACIEX). Successfully planned and executed a two week
long experiment, in a remote location, with over 20 persons assigned including logistics, air assets, and sensor
deployments onto the sea ice in the Arctic Ocean.
Created an innovative STEM Curriculum using field activities and effectively linked them for the classroom
environment.
NAVAL ICE CENTER, Suitland, MD: 2005 – 2008
Acting Executive Officer/Science Department Head/Security Manager
Led 70 military and civilian personnel from three agencies (U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and NOAA) in
providing ice analyses, forecasts, and specialized tactical and strategic support while ensuring safety of
operations throughout ice-infested regions of the globe. Managed a $13 million annual budget.
Coordinator of the United States Interagency Arctic Buoy Program, developing new technologies and
coordinating efforts for successful procurement and deployments of Arctic Observing Platforms .
Managed Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF), secure documents, records, and personnel
clearance program in accordance with all Navy regulations.
