Synopsis : Avionics Integration Rig (AIR) is an integrated
environment designed for testing of mission/safety critical subsystems
(LRUs) of Light Combat Aircraft (LCA). Extensive Hardwire-In-Loop
Simulation (HILS) and Testing of LRUs concerning to Avionics & Weapon
System (AWS) needs to be carried out in order to reduce the time and cost
associated with real flight-testing. Preparation of test plans and
procedures for validating system behaviour is the prerequisite of
testing. Proper functionality of Mission Computer (OAC) with other LRUs
connected to it through data bus and/or discrete lines as well as Cockpit
Displays with mode selection through switches have to be ensured before
its aircraft installation and flight test.
Contribution :
Tools Development:-
. Developing Post Flight Data Analyser that automatically searches
the required parameters from Video/Flight Digital Recorder
(VDR/FDR) files and represents navigational parameters graphically
and generates performance report.
. Designed Diagnosis Tool for off-line checking of mode status words
of all avionics LRUs. It is to be used by ground engineers for
flight clearance. GUI front-end is designed using VC++ and database
is managed in MS Access.
Verification & Analysis:-
. Analysis, verification and validation of different functions from
Control/Display units of Flight Management System (FMS) like Flight
Plan, Basic Flight Steering, Auto Navigation, Speed Guidance and
Approach and Landing Guidance, Flight Envelope Monitor from Primary
and Secondary Flight Control System information, Management of
Aircraft Systems (Engine, Fuel, etc) and warning Management.
. Verified different display symbologies on Multi-Function-Colour-
Display (MFD) for radio Navaids like VOR/ILS and TACAN.
. Unit Level Testing performed on SSCDRMK-II Application Code during
design stage.

signal conditions before installing new LRUs in integrated

Description : SSCDR MKII is an upgrade of previous SSCDR
MKI. Upgrade is done to overcome limitations of previous system. It
acquires sensor data (analogue, discrete & frequency) data from flight
control system (FCS) through RS 422 interface and digital data on MIL
1553 Bus. It also acquires one channel audio data. It stores the acquired
data to a crash protected memory module. It has Ethernet & RS 422 (back
up interface) for milking out the recorded data.

. Hardware Software Integration & System Testing with Test Rig which
simulates A/c signals.
. Interaction with clearance agencies for airworthiness certificate.
